A pair of handsome gondoliers suddenly become kings and humor and exuberance abound as they attempt to adjust to their new social status. Set by the sun-dappled waters of the Grand Canal, this joyful operetta allows Gilbert to skewer issues of social equality and class with his usual brilliant wit and groundbreaking lyrics, alongside Sullivan’s lovely, lilting score.

“a hilarious island of sunshine” – The Mercury News

Featuring a shepherdess the lords all want to marry, her beloved who is half man, half fairy, the tour de force “Nightmare Song,” and a band of feisty fairies doing battle with a dim-witted Parliament. Lamplighter principals will perform the work in its entirety, bringing the orchestra on stage to join the party. Sing along with any and all parts!

IF YOU WANT TO KNOW WHO WE ARE...

The mission of Lamplighters Music Theatre is to share our enthusiasm and love for the works of W.S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan through productions of their comic operas and of other works of comparable wit, literacy and musical merit. Our company strives to enrich the lives of current and future theatre-goers with productions of the highest artistic quality, and to offer performance opportunities in the unique style of classic music theatre to established and emerging artists alike. Through youth training, programs in schools and community outreach, the Lamplighters aspire to develop young talent and encourage people of all ages to explore the comic appeal and deep musical rewards of this repertoire.

Critically acclaimed artistic successes for the Lamplighters include honors for Best Production and Best Director at the International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival in Buxton, England and local awards in nearly every performance, direction, and design category. The hallmarks of a Lamplighters production are lavish costumes and sets, live orchestra, excellent comic acting, and gorgeous unamplified singing that showcases the beauty and purity of the human voice.

Auctioneer Bio: Steven Godfryd is the founder and president of the Pacific Auction Company. He organizes and conducts over 200 fundraising auctions annually, earning him the moniker of “hardest working auctioneer in the fundraising business”. Having worked as a professional non-profit fundraiser for 15 years, the combination of being both an auctioneer and a fundraiser makes him a powerful force in encouraging people to spend generously at fundraising events. He has literally generated millions of dollars for charitable organizations, and has been recognized by industry groups for his outstanding work. Steve became an auctioneer the old fashioned way, by studying auctioneers. He has a reverence for country cattle callers and their high-speed auction patter, yet appreciates the sophistication of auctioneers at the worlds finest auction houses such as Christie’s & Sotheby’s. His style is a bit flashy, and a true hybrid of old-fashioned country combined with high-brow city flare.

Three Digital Aides

Theme to Patterday Night Live

Every Day We Hear the Blather

You May Have Pain or Swelling

Save the Oxford Comma

If a Tree’s in a Forest

We’re Called Wild and Crazy

I’m a Lady of the Church

We Are Hans and Franz

Things Are Seldom What They Seem

Proudly We Display Our Cones

You May Break Out in a Rash

Get Out of Here! I’m Out The Door!

Once One’s Committed Fratricide

A Song to Sing, O!

The Woman of The Wisest Wit

I Told Her That She Was...

The Border’s Fully Open

My Dragons’ Rays

Marching Over Rocky Beaches

The Soldiers of Our King

Then One of Us Will Be a Queen

But Who is This...

We’ve Gathered All the Stories

What’s All This Fuss I Hear Today?

Your Argument’s Moronic

This Hammer I Must Sell

Manly Gender, Best Surrender

If You Find You’re Overheated

Here is a Mind Unpresidented

A Capella Nightmare

An Actor is a Marvelous Enigma

I Will Bet You That Heaven

Now Falstaff’s Fat

Champagne Song 1.

Three Little Maids, The Mikado

With cat-like tread, The Pirates of Penzance

On the day when I was wedded, The Gondoliers

I am the very model of a modern Major-General, The Pirates of Penzance

Death to the invader, Princess Ida

On a tree by a river a little tom tit, The Mikado

We’re called gondolieri, The Gondoliers

If you give me your attention, Princess Ida

We are warriors three, Princess Ida

Things are seldom what they seem, H.M.S. Pinafore

Loudly let the trumpet bray, Iolanthe

I am the very model of a modern Major-General, The Pirates of Penzance

You understand? I think I do, Ruddygore

In sailing o’er life’s ocean wide, Ruddygore

I have a song to sing, O!, The Yeomen of the Guard

The woman of the wisest wit, Princess Ida

On a tree by a river a little tom tit, The Mikado

My eyes are fully open, Ruddygore

The sun whose rays, The Mikado

Climbing over rocky mountain, The Pirates of Penzance

The soldiers of our queen, Patience

Then one of us will be a queen, The Gondoliers

But who is this, whose god-like grace, Patience

As someday it may happen, The Mikado

When Frederic was a little lad, The Pirates of Penzance

So go to him and say to him, Patience

This helmet I suppose, Princess Ida

Welcome, gentry for your entry, Ruddygore

I am the very model of a modern Major-General, The Pirates of Penzance

Here is a case unprecedented, The Gondoliers

Love, unrequited, robs me of my rest, Iolanthe

Kind Captain, I’ve important information, H.M.S. Pinafore

On a tree by a river a little tom tit, The Mikado

I am so proud, The Mikado

The Champagne Song, Die Fledermaus
