Lana Comeaux Development Officer, Stephen F. Austin State University



Lana Comeaux served as superintendent at Brookeland ISD, from June 2006 to November 2008. As an instructional leader, she was responsible for implementing the school board’s vision by making day-to-day decisions about educational programs, spending, staff, and facilities.


Dr. Lana L. Comeaux was also responsible for managing personnel, budgets, finances, federal, state and local grant for the district and joint community activities.


Lana Comeaux also received a grant for over $2.5M (2005 – 2008). She lobbied federal legislators for Impact Aid. She was elected to the National Board of Director for NAFIS 8002 from 2007 to 2008.


During this time, Dr. Lana L. Comeaux conducted UIL District Champions (2 years). Student emoluments increased by 50%, dual credit participation increased from 5% to 65%. Staff turnover reduced from 35% to 5% - showing motivation in the staff under her supervision. Lana Comeaux managed well, post-high school education of student increased from 15% to 75%.


Furthermore, faculty/staff enrollment in higher education increased from 2% to 25%. Dr. Lana L. Comeaux confidently met Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for four years (on a campus and district level).


There were marvelous outcomes during her tenure and she concentrated on all aspects and performed really well until she left in 2008. She believed helping others and she well achieved it.
