Featuring The Overtures, a band described by Sir Elton John as “the best band of their kind in the world” and by Lionel Richie as “absolutely fantastic”, this unique sight and sound show will take you right back to the greatest decade in musical history. DAVE SPIKEY’S ‘WORDS DON’T COME EASY TOUR’ Multi award-winning Dave Spikey is one of the most sought-after comedy talents in the UK today. With a career spanning two decades, he has numerous TV appearances to his name as a stand-up comedian, presenter and actor – and behind the screens, as an acclaimed comedy writer. This hilarious new show examines many more situations in life where words really don’t come easy including tongue-tied parents explaining the facts of life, ridiculous newspaper stories, pathetic adolescent chat-up lines and an extended selection of song lyrics. Throw in a ‘Champion the Wonder Horse’ sing-a-long, a look at ancient Abyssinian contraception, rubbish school trips and epidural anaesthesia and you have all the ingredients for a rich and spicy comedy casserole. www.davespikey.co.uk

THE BLUES BAND The Blues Band was formed in 1979, by ex Manfred Mann group members, Paul Jones and Tom McGuinness, originally to play a few pub gigs on Paul Jones’ nights off from his full time career as an actor in London’s West End. Paul and Tom called on Tom’s old McGuinness Flint friend Hughie Flint to play drums. Their next port of call was for another singer and guitarist. They approached the renowned slide guitarist Dave Kelly, who brought in Gary Fletcher on bass. Hughie retired from The Blues Band late in 1981, and Medicine Head and Family stalwart Rob Townsend joined on drums. Eighteen or is it nineteen albums/CDs later they are still going strong and favourites on the European Festival scene, always known for giving stunning, soulful performances. www.thebluesband.com

JOE LONGTHORNE

Saturday 14 May

This talented artist began his career over three decades ago with appearances on Junior Showtime, followed by a grounding on the tough Northern club circuit. His big break came in 1981 when he was a finalist on London Weekend Television’s Search for a Star – this lead to appearances at the London Palladium with Bob Hope and The Talk of the Town. A short time later, Joe received the Variety Club of Britain award as Most Promising Artiste of the Year. Joe’s repertoire of voices is endless and includes hundreds of the world’s top singers, however, he is perhaps best known for his impersonation of Shirley Bassey. During his career, Joe has received gold and platinum discs for his albums, enjoyed sell-out concerts at the Royal Albert Hall, as well as touring Australia several times.
