Lancaster by the Bay Chamber of Commerce set the stage for a night of elegance, recognition, and connection at their highly anticipated Annual Meeting and Dinner. Held at Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club in April, the event brought together local professionals and community members to honor outstanding individuals, foster new partnerships, and celebrate the collective success of the Chamber and the local business community. The highlight of the program was the muchanticipated awards ceremony, where the Chamber of Commerce recognized exceptional individuals who had made significant contributions to the local business landscape. Each accolade showcased the dedication, passion, and entrepreneurial spirit that make the local business community thrive.

Chamber Volunteer of the Year – WAYNE GALLEHER, NWP Energy

With unwavering dedication and an unmatched passion for serving the Chamber and the business community, Chamber board member Wayne Galleher has selflessly devoted countless hours to furthering the Chamber’s mission. His most notable contributions to the Chamber have been through his tireless efforts as Chair of the Annual Chamber Golf Classic. Under his leadership, the event has become a highly anticipated spring networking opportunity and one of the most profitable Chamber fundraisers. Wayne’s invaluable contributions have not only elevated the Chamber’s impact but also inspired fellow volunteers and community members to actively engage in shaping a prosperous business environment.

K. Horsley Real Estate received an overwhelming number of nominations for Businesspeople of the Year, describing the couple as “hardworking, generous, familyoriented, and compassionate professionals who work tirelessly to enhance our community.”

Originally established by Katie’s grandmother, Isabell K. Horsley Real Estate is a second and thirdgeneration-owned and operated business. Katie was named the Principal Broker of the company in 2022, continuing the legacy of her late grandmother, Isabell. David serves as the Managing Broker, and the two of them work together to guide the business. Under their leadership, Horsley Real Estate has grown to five offices with over thirty active real estate agents throughout the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula.

David and Katie’s contributions extend far beyond the walls of their business. They are active, engaged members of the Chamber of Commerce, serving on committees, volunteering their time, sponsoring countless signature events, and advocating for the needs of the local business community. They’re also generous supporters and volunteers for the local private and public school systems, in addition to numerous other local nonprofits and businesses.

The Dennis W. Burchill Lifetime Achievement Award

The Chamber unveiled their newest award, the Dennis W. Burchill Lifetime Achievement Award, which was created to honor the memory and legacy of the late Chamber board member and community leader, Dennis Burchill. Dennis’ wife, Patty Burchill, accepted the award on his behalf.

Dennis was a pioneer in the communications and mass media fields, specifically radio. Throughout his entire career, and most recently at Two Rivers Communications in Kilmarnock, he demonstrated exceptional talent in his field and commitment to mentoring future generations while being instrumental in enhancing the local community. Future recipients of the Dennis W. Burchill Lifetime Achievement Award will mirror these achievements, strengths, and qualities.
