1. Rådhustorget and Landskrona Town Hall
Rådhustorget has been the town’s market square for over 600 years. Completed in 1884, the current town hall (rådhus in Swedish) is neogothic in style and occupies the same location as its medieval predecessor. These days, Rådhustorget also hosts concerts and other events.
2.Cinema and shopping
Landskrona’s two major pedestrian-only shopping streets are Järnvägsgatan and Östergatan, at the junction of which you will find the town’s theatre. Östergatan is home to the historic Maxim cinema, which reopened in 2014 as a state-of-the-art, three-screen complex equipped with the latest in audio-visual technology and boasting a beautifully restored interior.
3. Theatre and playground
The Landskrona Theatre was designed by municipal architect Fredrik Sundbärg and opened by King Oskar II in 1901. The theatre offers a varied programme for the whole family.The beautifully landscaped Theatre Park also has a large playground for children of all ages.
4. Landskrona Museum
Built as a military barracks in the 1750s, Landskrona Museum is the perfect place to learn about the town’s history through its many exhibitions, or to pick carrots in the Trädgårdslandet gardening experience for children up to five years of age. The exhibitions Non-Violence, featuring the work of Carl-Fredrik Reuterswärd, and Reklam!, with works from the Swedish Archive of Advertising and Graphic Design, are also popular permanent displays
5. Landskrona konsthall
With its idyllic location and distinctive architecture, the Landskrona Konsthall art gallery attracts established exhibitors and art aficionados from around the world. The gallery was designed by architects Sten Samuelson and Fritz Jaenecke in 1963 to mark the town’s 550th anniversary. Landskrona Konsthall is widely appreciated for its exhibitions, primarily in the fields of art, design and photography.
6. Kaptensgården Sculpture Park
Landskrona is famous for its many parks. You can practically stroll from one park into the next. The park surrounding Landskrona Konsthall is home to a sculpture park featuring the work of 19 artists. You can learn more about each individual work at landskrona.se/ skulpturpark.
7. Miniature golf
Landskrona’s successful miniature golf club, BK Linjen, plays its home tournaments in Badhusparken. This 18-hole miniature golf course is also very popular with the public and is open daily during the summer months.
8. Citadellbadet
Citadellbadet’s olympic-size pool is renowned for its speed and has seen a large number of swimming records broken over the years. The three pools are all filled with purified sea water from Öresund. Other facilities include exercise paths, a diving platform and children’s pool. The site was designed by internationally acclaimed architect Gert Wingårdh.
9. City beach and skatepark
A five-minute walk from the town centre brings you to Lagunen, the town’s popular beach and home to a large skatepark, outdoor gym and playground. The skatepark attracts visitors from across the region and is ideal for both beginners and advanced skaters.
10. Slottsparken and disc golf course
Slottsparken, idyllically located adjacent to the Citadel, is a true treasure chest of botanical rarities. This is also where you will find Landskrona’s disc golf course which stretches around the Citadel and the Citadel allotments. You can play 9 or 18 holes using your own equipment. 11. The Citadel and adventure playground
Built by Christian III of Denmark, Landskrona Citadel is one of the best-preserved sixteenth-century fortifications in the Nordics. Today, the Citadel is used for parties, concerts and other events. The area houses a café, a large medieval-inspired adventure playground and put-and-take fishing. Daily guided tours are offered during the summer months, tickets can be booked via Hotel Öresund.
12. Citadel allotments and Rothoffska Allotment Museum
Around the fortifications of the Citadel lie Sweden’s oldest allotments, Citadellkolonierna. The area is also home to Sweden’s only allotment museum, the Rothoffska, which was built in 1903. The cottage on the allotment is open from 12 noon until 4 pm from 1 May- 15 September. The garden is open to visitors during daylight hours, all year round.
13. Hemslöjden Skåne
Landskrona’s old train station on Järnvägstorget is now home to regional handicrafts shop Hemslöjden Skåne. Handicrafts are extremely popular and this hub attracts many craft enthusiasts to the shop, exhibitions, workshop and courses.
14. Havsfiske eller put-and-take
The deep waters between Landskrona and the island of Ven provide Sweden’s best deep-sea fishing. Fishing tours depart daily from Stadskajen throughout the year and are suitable for both seasoned enthusiasts as well as families. Put-and-take fishing is available in the moat surrounding the Citadel for those who prefer. Fishing licences can be purchased inside the Citadel area.
15. Skåneleden – trail
You can begin your hike along the Skåneleden trail at the city beach Lagunen, either heading south towards Lundåkra Bay and the Saxtorp Forest or north towards the fishing villages of Borstahusen and Ålabodarna. Along the coast trail you will pass a number of beaches, marinas and barbeque and rest areas with magnificent views across the sound.
