ARCHITECTURE PORTFOLIO NGUYEN. H. LAN PHUONG
I’m currently a graduated student carrying a strong urge to explore and learn more beyond my comfort zone. As many years of experiencing the life of a student majoring in architecture, it’s given me many insights which surely is the best foundation for me to carry on my career path. I believe in creating spaces that harmonize and elevate our lifestyle, our city and our greater environment is the crucial mission of every architect. As for me, understanding the wide range and endless knowledge of this field, my goal is to study non-stop, gaining and absorbing new knowledge.

By prioritizing day-lightning according to the criteria of designing libraries and public buildings, the building is fully open, which is characterised by a clear, functional design language - and lots of glass. With that being said, in order to meet the requirement of the related architectural criteria and make the building fit well in climate condition, a dynamic facade was used, which is ideal for being highly thermally insulated and also satisfies the requirement of the limited amount of light into the library and other areas. The facade applied a classic format of nowadays technology. It has three layers, the first one is transparent glass curtain walls, the second one is a set of steel frames, and the third one is aluminum panels - easy to bend, twist, and so on. What makes the building re-

ally stand out is the series of opening voids on the facade as it widens up or narrows down due to the surrounding environment.

Da Lat is the capital of Lam Dong Province and the largest city of the Central Highlands region in Vietnam, the city is located 1.500m above sea level, and has a moderate population density, and developed infrastructure. Thanks to its geography, it is famous for its beautiful

sceneries and cool climate, and it has become an attractive destination for tourists. That is the reason why hotels and motels have become an essential part of Dalat nowadays.

In order to innovate in the design of a typical research center in Vietnam, being different but harmonious, I use the form of a cubic box, to ensure that the building is in harmony with the surrounding blocks (cubic/rectangular boxes) and cover form with a design, ensuring a fascinated feeling looking at a research project but not as boring as the surrounding works. The concept of a facade takes an image from a DNA sequence, as well as the process of copying and producing a new DNA sequence (the core common point between humans and pathogens). 33

TILES FACTORY This is a tile manufacturing factory which is located on a large site. When I was sketching the concept, I didn’t want it to have the typical design of other factories, which have plain sloped roofs. That is the reason why I came up with a curved roof. The main materials are corrugated iron, steel, and insulated wall panels. Year: 2019 Software: Revit, Photoshop
