BJÖRKLIDEN 250 km north of the Arctic Circle, beautifully situated among towering mountains and magnificent scenery lies Björkliden. Few Swedish mountain resorts are entitled to the label ”classic”. Björkliden is certainly one of the few. The first tourists arrived in the early days of the previous century. They travelled by train on the newly built railway and were pioneers in this, at that point in time, virtually unexplored part of the world. We see this as an important cultural heritage to cherish. We have delivered great experiences since 1926 and we strive to protect the small and genuine; with empathy, traditions and atmosphere; an oasis for body and soul; all year round.

There are many different ways to experience the magnificent Northern Lights — from the back of a snowmobile, on a sled pulled by dogs or in a warm and cosy hut while eating a terrific meal. NORTHERN LIGHTS DOG SLED
Have you ever been leaning back in a sled pulled by strong husky dogs while the magnificent northern lights dances in the sky? If not this is the tour for you! To give you the best chance to see the northern lights this activity is set in the evening where you will be cruising through the snow in a cosy sled. The tour will take you out in the dark where the only lights come from our torch and the only power comes from the dogs. This activity suits all ages and no physical fitness is needed. When: December 2018 – March 2019 Note: Minimum age is 7 years.
NORTHERN LIGHTS CAT SKI With the powerful cat ski machine you sit comfortable as the driver takes you uphill to the top of the mountain. Here, a long way from the resort and its electrical light, we can go out, enjoy the fresh air and watch the incredible northern lights surrounded by darkness while our guide serves a classic ”Swedish fika”. NORTHERN LIGHTS EXPERIENCE
We travel by snowshoes to a hut situated 1,5 km from the hotel. It’s up there, without interfering artificial light, the Northern Lights can be seen at their finest. By a warming fire inside the hut the guide will tell your more about the magic of Northern Lights and the Björkliden area. When: December 2018 – March 2019 Note: Recommended minimum age is 7 years.
NORTHERN LIGHTS DINNER EXPERIENCE By snowshoes we walk 1,5 km through the wilderness until we arrive at our own hut. With a live fire the guide cooks a meal and we sit cosy together in front of the fire waiting for the northern lights to arrive. When: December 2018 – March 2019

NORTHERN LIGHTS SNOWMOBILE TOUR Drive a snowmobile far out in the untouched wilderness. In the headlight of the snowmobile we go to places otherwise difficult to reach surrounded by mountains and darkness. Here we stay and wait for the magnificent northern lights show. When: December 2018 – February 2019 Note: Recommended minimum age is 7 years.

SOLHYLLAN LOG CABINS Solhyllan simply means premium accommodation in a mountain setting. Classic yet modern log chalets with four bedrooms, lounge and up to five metres to the ceiling. This is ideal for the large family, group of friends or conference groups looking for privacy. The standard corresponds to a handful of hotel stars.

RESTAURANT LAPPORTEN
The fabulous iconic views of the Lapporten valley on a scale of 1:1 in combination with an à la carte menu where local produce encounters international cuisines, the result is excellent. During the winter season, Restaurant Lapporten also offers a daily dinner special, consisting of two or three courses. All the items on our menus come with a varied assortment of drinks, with the main focus on wines.
