Haiku For a
Gloomy Day By: JosĂŠ V. Guerra Awe
For Alana
My Shining Star
Beneath clouded sky | a stagnant river shimmers | for a peeking moon
A candle's flicker | dies by gust from puckered lips | Flame is soon relit
A tree without leaves | trembles in cold of winter | Spring will soon return
Even a whirlpool | has potential to become | crashing whitecap
Leaves bust through strands | Intricate web collapses | 'tis time to rebuild
Even bone prison | cannot suppress a throbbing | heart's resounding beats
When water stands still | eyes can deeply contemplate | the nature of their being
Death is overcome | Hermitage abandoned | Dragonfly emerges
“even though my wandering eyes
hunger for the coast, I'm content to be adrift” - José V. Guerra Awe
