is an introduction to basic color theory and introduces systems for color management commonly used in the design industry. Properties of light and color, physiological processes of color vision, and color systems are discussed. It is challenging to systemize or create a “magic formula for successfully using color. The complexity of color has been studied by many theorists: Newton, Munsell, Albers, Itten, and Birren.
here we studied and learned to identify the base of color vocabulary, understandood the basics of color schemes, comprehended the human eye perceives color, described the function of light in the perception of color and recognized the diversity of color principles, theories, and systems.

LUIS BARRAGAN Barragan House & Studio Mexico City, Mexico. By Lina Arias
BACKGROUND ABOUT DESIGNER Architect Luis Barragan was born in Guadalajara, Mexico. He went to school for Engineer and at the age of twenty-three he received his professional degree. Everything he knew about architecture he learned it on his own. He wanted to travel specifically to know more about every culture and native architecture. In the 1920s, he traveled to France and Spain, and lived for a long time in Paris in 1931 to follow le corbusier lectures. He also became very interested in native architecture of North Africa and the mediterranean.
He was associated with a movement known as the “Escuela Tapatia ” and his relationship to Regional tradition. Barragan’s work was based on Minimalist , Colors, Texture and Authentic Planes. He used some compositional elements with Nature that made his work unique and attractive. Such as: Wall of Stucco, Adobe, Timber and even water.
Barragan was a religious man therefore, description of his work have always been “mystical and Peaceful”. Some of his other interests are horses and water.
Barragan’s idea was to have an intregration of landscape and Architecture together to give a good example of how color, Architecture and nature can be well integreated. In the Book “Contemporary Architects” he wrote, "I believe that architects should design gardens to be used, as much as the houses they build, to develop a sense of beauty and the taste and inclination toward the fine arts and other spiritual values. " And further, "Any work of architecture which does not express serenity is a mistake."
When he received his Pritzker Architecture Prize, he said, "It is impossible to understand Art and the glory of its history without avowing religiousspirituality and the mythical roots that lead us to the very reason of being of the artistic phenomenon. Without the one or the other there would be no Egyptian pyramids, nor those of ancient Mexico. Would the Greek temples and Gothic cathedrals have existed?"

“THE FACADE” The façade of this house is coordinate with the driveway and preserves the presences of the neighboring composition. It’s a gigantic boundary with particular perforations. Due to its rigid, almost incomplete language, the house would almost be unseen, except for its proportions, which contrasts the rest of the houses in the area.
The transparent, closed library’s window is the only single component projecting over the front of this simple façade. Almost the whole exterior preserves the color and essential roughness of its basic material, concrete. And at the same time, it makes an unique contrast with the surrounding causing some type of attention to the public.
The openings allows the facade to have natural light and ventilation into the house. Therefore, the house could have light during the day for people to enjoy the contrast of colors and have contact with nature.
“THE ENTRANCE HALL” The transition from soft colors to bright colors make this small entrance more interesting since people are not expecting such as huge change on their eyes. The entry with its light and bright colors (Yellow) is a modern way of representing traditional spaces. Barragans idea was to create an entrance that had a breathing space before entering into the main spaces. The Entrance Hall also perfoms as a resting area, as well as, a space where prepares peoples’ senses to others moments in the house. Some of this expectations are to be able to use our most common senses ( Sight, Smell, Touch, and Hearing) during traveling around the house by the impact of its materials, and most important a precise palette of colors. Examples of sense in materials/colors:
Wood, Stone and Whitewashed Walls
“THE VESTIBULE The multiclored experience can also be appreciated as a complementary progression. This way, the light yellow of the entrance hall immerse the eye to take in the pink of the vestibule. The pink also performs as preparation to the eye if people open a secondary door and look at the opening of the dining room, which consist of a deep green with a beautiful garden that plays the roll of a background. Something thay caught my attention was how the colors shifted when natural light invaded the space. Some of the colors became darker and you can see how the sense could becomes something else. Therefore, this can be a good example of how the intregration of nature, space and color is a huge element in architecture.
“THE LIVING ROOM The everyday items were not created with industrial materials, just vegetable, wood, leather, and wool fibers. The garden plays a major roll in this part of the space because the living room is all about a palette of warm colors, where you can contemplate nature from clear materials and give a deep relaxation to the eyes.
“THE TERRACE
The terrace is an open and abstract layout of flat/ simple faces that works as open experiences whose architectural function is unpredictable. this terrace is composed by walls that rise above the roof level and are used for good purpose. for example, the white wall contains the water deposit of this house. barragans’ conception of bothcomplex and white spaces was his main strategy for this house because he wanted to apply the simplicity of life to surprise people when traveling around , inside and outside this house. The pallete that he used in the terrace was to attract nature and incorporate sunlight, trees and the sky.
“WATER, WALL OF STUCCO AND ADOBE”
Architect Luis Barragan used water as clear colour to give spaces depth, clarity, and symmetry when looking at a specific part of this house. as well as, giving nature the main character of the outdoors.

The movie is about this guy Theodore who became a solitary, quiet, and unhappy man. He works in a company where his job is to make leers for people who are incapable to write leers for personal maers. The reason why he became such a sad person is because he was about to divorce from his childhood best friend/ girlfriend Catherine. Meanwhile, the introducon of an OS became an interesng tool for Theodore because he found out that this operator system could be more than an arficial system. Therefore, He chooses the OS to have a female voice, and named it ,Samantha. He was so desperate to have a women in his life that used this operator system basically as his personal/inmate company. He was delighted by her ability to gain so much in such a short me. On the other hand, he was struggling with his divorce that he found in Samantha a parcular relaonship that nobody else could offered him. She (OS) gave him the possibility of having her 24/7 that he uses her as if she was an human. She was curious, interested, loyal, supporve and sweet that when the operator system needed it to be out of his world, it was too late for him to go back and realize it was just a machine created by a human to give people fast access to technology.

It is not just a simple matter of color grading an image in post-production. A film’s aesthetic and visual palette can largely determine its mood, feel and theme. Production, costume and art design all massively contribute to a film’s look, as well as the cinematography and directorial choices

Lina M. Arias Color Theory Fall 2017 Module 8 Location: Brickell City Centre
Background In 1986, Domenico Menniti founded a firm named PDM, along with his brothers and his business partners Enzo Menniti, and Paolo and Massimo Montefusco. The firm focused primarily on leather gloves, but in 1993 it expanded with its first collection of swimming trunks. Then, in 1995, the collection grew with the addition of shirts, trousers and sweaters.Their first boutique opened in 2000 in Frattamaggiore, Naples. Shortly afterwards, a new boutique was opened in Capri and another one in Miami, Florida. The product line Harmont & Blaine Junior was launched in 2005 by AGB Company, which owned the licence. In 2006, PDM was renamed to Harmont & Blaine. Many months after, a special meeting approved an assets increase on 1 October 2007. In 2008, the firm Giano signed a business deal for the production and distribution of a new product line of Harmont & Blaine, named Harmont & Blaine Shoes. The firm presented the Woman Collection in June 2010. During the same year, a co-branding operation with Honda resulted in the creation of a new car, the Honda CR-V Harmont & Blaine.Since 2012–2013, the design, production and distribution of new lines has moved to the direct management of the company. In June 2013, the Man Collection was announced to the press during Milan Fashion Week. After that, another flagship store was inaugurated in Prague in October. After many store openings all around the world, on 30 October 2014, Clessidra acquired 35% of Harmont & Blaine's stock, in order to support the plan of international growth of the firm. According to its international development plan inside the French market, the firm established the subsidiary company Harmont & Blaine France and inaugurated its first boutique on 35 Boulevard des Capucines, Paris, in October 2015. Harmont & Blaine continued its plan of expansion abroad, especially in France, where another boutique was opened in Cannes, housing collections for men, women and children during the following year.
Contrast of Hue The combination of the dark and light brown color gives the store a good oportunity to create a special space for them to illustrate their merchandise. As well as the white color created by the light bolts that defines and gives dept to that specific Space.
Dark Brown
Light Brown It also helps defines whats the most important object in that area. such as, what the primarily, secondary and tertiary plane for customer to analize whenever the enter the store.
Light blue
Contrast of a Design Feature The image demostrate the contrast between different type of connections, separations, grouped and ungrouped objects. Every object wants to have a similar way of construction and organization but at the same time within its own design. These characteristics forms definition and contrast between different objects: size. shape color. value. texture. position. orientation.
Contrast of Texture
The main texture of this location is really interesting because the main rooms are divided by a frame full of light bolts to create transitions between each other. This black and white bolts contrast smooth and rough texture which makes the space's flow. The texture contrast and the area contrast were defined by the contrast between random dots, and by the contrast between the average luminance of the dot pattern and the luminance of the background, respectively.
Contrast of Focus The main contraste and interesting focus point of the store are the frames created by furnature and corridors. they used wood furnature to focus on different types of clothes. as well as the use of furnature to balance the background and surroundings. On the other hand, the used of texture inside frames to give depth and focus on objects that are located far away.
Introduction to color + scale
M.9 one of the main object in this chapter was t o understand the use of proportion system that can provide an accurate color proportions. also the learning of scaleand proportion between all of it. on the other hand, learning how to study and figured evrything out strategely when it get to designing.

Black: Associated with power, elegance, formality, death, evil, and mystery.
A mysterious color associated with fear and the unknown (black holes). Usually has a negative connotation (blacklist, black humor, ' black death'). Denotes strength and authority; it is considered to be a very formal, elegant, and prestigious color.
The color gold
is cousin to the color yellow and the color brown, and is also associated with illumination, love, compassion, courage, passion, magic, and wisdom. Gold is a precious metal that is associated with wealth, grandeur, and prosperity, as well as sparkle, glitz, and glamour
Yellow
is associated with joy, happiness, intellect, and energy. Yellow produces a warming effect, arouses cheerfulness, stimulates mental activity, and generates muscle energy. Yellow is often associated with Life Bright, pure yellow is an attention getter, which is the reason taxicabs are painted this color. Yellow is seen before other colors when placed against black; this combination is often used to issue a warning. In heraldry, yellow indicates honor and loyalty. Later the meaning of yellow was connected with cowardice.

It symbolizes trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, faith, truth, and heaven. Blue is considered beneficial to the mind and body It slows human metabolism and produces a calming effect. Blue is strongly associated with tranquility and calmness. In heraldry, blue is used to symbolize piety and sincerity.
60%Dominant color 30% Secondarycolor
Descriptions It's impractical to keep one tint for an entire, color proposal or our client can get bored and asleepy. Accent color should be the brightest tool you add in your color palette.
Gold and llight Yellow used in Space Light fixtures--such as chandeliers, lamps, and ceiling fans are not only useful; they also provide decorating accents color. Artwork generally refers to the accents hanging on your walls. all spaces need at least one large or several small pieces of artwork hanging over the wall..Because the use of art is often a focal point or the inspiration for your space's color scheme. The Secondary color, Black is mainly used on the front and right walls to give the dominant colora more porwering meaning, A dominant color will influence its hue despite its atmosphere, climate and/or background. some dominant colors like black, for example, will always count more of its own texture with mixed or paired withsome other light/regular colors. dominat color wont never be invisible regardless of what you add next to it, these colors will come through and remain a focus point/visible.
Result/ Experience
Really interesting experience because the Results were very simple but I was involved into the inside and try to incorporate everything in only one space. such as, furnature, windows, art , color and dimensions.
M.11 VARIETY is a principle of design that is concerned with
the combinaon of one or more color elements that use line, shape, texture, and/or paern to create diversity and contrast in an interior space.

Discussion The Fontainebleau Hotel is one of the most classical, iconic and significant building in Miami, Florida. It opens its doors in 1954 and was designed by Morris Lapidus. In addion to that, this Hotel was considered one of the most luxurious in that area, in which many movies were place. The hotel was remodeled, they considered to keep their original shapes to show the historical part of it. Line: Vercal lines in a space creates Solid contrast when trying to incorporate another solid material. In this specific hall way, the architect wanted to incorporate a relaonship between the roof’s line and the wood material used in the wall. Vercal lines li the eye upward and make windows, and enre interiors, appear taller or higher. Therefore, it creates connecvity between each solid area of that specific space. Shape: In other to have a balance in shape they used the circular shape for its unique elements, such as lobby lamps, plants’ furniture and some of its hotels’ texture. And it also creates a good contrasts when showings specific part of the areas. Texture: When Designers include different type of texture they create an amount of interest to the space. And when richness are added to the floor it makes people appreciate more when walking around the area. taking this course made me realized that there is more than just a color, it basically made me pay more attention to the meaning of architecture, as well as color in environmental. thanks to this course i learned how to identify color in design which helped me with my projects. to conclude, every student in architecture department should incorporate color into their design to give live to their projects and give them meaning to the interior design as well.
