Image Planning

Three sketches are usually submitted for a typical project. The concept for the piece is usually discussed, with certain parameters in place. The organization will usually provide a theme. The artist will incorporate the theme in the sketches submitted. The artist’s sketches are simple, rough line drawings with no color. Sketches will be either submitted by e-mail or by fax.

The artist may elect to utilize the organization’s logo or likeness of the logo as a design element. Any organizational symbols or color schemes may also be utilized as design elements. The artist will attempt to create a universal stylized image for broader appeal. The organization’s theme for this project was “Praise The Lord With Gladness”.

After submission and review of the three sketches, the artist and organization should have a better idea which direction to pursue with the image concept. The artist will make any necessary minor adjustments to the selected rough sketch. Upon written approval, the artist will begin to plan the final original work. The sketch process could take 1-2 weeks.

After the final selection is made the artist begins to paint the final original which will be utilized on the commemorative reproduction. The artist will generally e-mail an image of the artwork in progress to the elected contact person. Depending on the complexity of the final design, this process could take between 1-2 months. The final original artwork is now completed and ready for publishing!
