Kindergarten
INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE AND REGGIO EMILIA IN ACTION KINDERGARTEN
The inquiry and research that both
Kindergarten Arancioni and Verdi
classes pursued on the Indigenous Peoples of California resonated so deeply with the La Scuola community that students had the opportunity to share their final project with everyone. Around the world practices are being put in place to honor Indigenous groups with land acknowledgement statements prior to the start of public gatherings and ceremonies, and La Scuola Kindergartners expressed their desire to share the land acknowledgment sign and its message with the whole school before the start of an all-school assemblea.
Kindergarten Inquiry transdisciplinary theme:
WHERE WE ARE IN PLACE AND TIME
Our lives are different from the lives of people who lived in the past.

Along with our leadership team, Kinders organized a verbal statement with which they communicated at that all-school assemblea, before 235 students and adults. And this land acknowledgement continued in all future gatherings. The Kinders were so proud to help start this new and important tradition!
