In four groups, this year’s Grade 5 students centered their inquiries, research and action on different United
Nations Sustainable Development Goals
(UN SDG): Good Health and Well Being, Peace and Justice, No Inequalities, and Climate Change.
In the process, they learned how to recognize a reliable website, started to work on a survey about their topics, and thought about experts to interview in their personal, local and global communities. All groups completed their inquiry with action in the form of communication (spoken and written) and advocacy in the field. Groups presented to many classrooms and parents during the morning of the IB-PYP Exhibition. The school community was then invited to participate in the advocacy during one specified weekend day—marching for awareness and a beach clean up.
