WHAT DO YOU GET? • 4 weeks of inspiring and highly energetic training sessions with international and local trainers, focusing on: • The concept of Youth Participation • Democracy, Citizen Rights & Responsibilities and Human Rights • Introduction to Governance and decision-making processes • Understanding the concept of Participatory Governance • Civic Empowerment and the role of Civil Society • Tactics of influence: Advocacy, Accountability, Active Citizenship • A unique insight into the historical political changes happening right now in Myanmar and examples of citizen participation in these changes • Meet inspiring youth activists and community mobilizers from Myanmar • 2-day seminar with international participants on how to draft a National Youth Policy for Myanmar • Get the skills, knowledge and attitude to become a more active citizen who dares to use her/his opinion to create positive social change • Fieldtrip to visit the AA Myanmar Fellows (rural community mobilizers) and learn how to engage in local decision making • Visit to Nay Pyi Taw, the new capital of Myanmar and home to the countries’ new parliament TRAINING OBJECTIVE The trainees will acquire in-depth knowledge and practical skills on how to influence decisionmaking processes and make sure that the voice of youth is heard and included. They will learn tactics on how to initiate participatory governance activities as a means of empowering youth and communities to become drivers of positive social change.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE? All young staff members, Activistas, volunteers, trainers and activists from ActionAid and partners can join, if ActionAid recommends them. We especially encourage the participation of junior staff working within the field of youth participation, governance, civic education and/ or active citizenship. The participants will be from different Asian countries, so it is necessary that each participant has a good level of spoken English. SCHOLARSHIPS Scholarships are available for participants that are recommended by AA country offices The scholarship includes: • 4 weeks of training • Fieldtrip • Course materials • Accommodation and all meals at the Global Platform • Insurance (medical + travel) You only have to cover: • Transportation to and from Yangon • Visa to Myanmar (50 $) • Per diems/allowance for social activities during weekends HOW TO APPLY?
