Current W.I.P. - Comprehensive Studio Toronto, Ontario Winter 2018 Maria Denegri Partner: Samantha Chow Tasked with designing a new photo archive for the city of Toronto, this design is based on a precedent study of the Cineteca Nacional by Rojkind Arquitectos. The goal of this design is to create an hub of public space to engage with the archive in many creative ways. In a culture of images and an ever-changing obsession with recording our lives, this space will continue to be a relevant cultural institution. Even if film photography and physical documents of it become extinct, our design aims to create a lasting way to archive the image culture of this city.

Ontario Food Terminal - Toronto, Ontario Winter 2017- Mauricio Quiros-Pacheco Timeline: 2 weeks for Research 1weeks for Idea Comp. 4 weeks for Proposal Programs: AutoCAD, Illustrator. This design project for the Ontario Food Terminal speculates on the future of food culture, site logistics and regional food systems in the Greater Toronto Area. Informed by a collaborative class research project of logistics, history, and precedents projects, this site is used as an opportunity to creatively expand on the Food Terminal. The future of all food systems is in jeopardy without pollination. The future of the OFT is an opportunity to connect the flourishing population of city mason bees with farmers through its position as a node in the food system.

Museum and Cafe - Plovdiv, Bulgaria Fall 2016 - James MacGillivray
Timeline: 3 weeks for Module 5 weeks for Final Project Programs: Rhino, AutoCAD, Illustrator, Photoshop A modular structural canopy system was devised based on a formal exploration. This system was then applied to a unique site. The Museum and Cafe combination covers the ruins of an Ancient Roman Forum below grade and connects to two public plazas at street level. The undulating surface of the canopy takes advantage of the arched module for interesting sectional changes and the integration of natural light. The broken and seemingly warped arch systems celebrate the deteriorating nature of the ruins.

Grotto - Conceptual Site Winter 2017 Brady Peters
Timeline: 2 weeks Methods: 3D Printing, CNC Milling, Rhino, Grasshopper A form finding exercise to explore digital model making. The parametric design of a permeable skin forms an undulating surface which inspired an abstract grotto scene.

House Duality - Conceptual Site Winter 2017 - Mason White
Timeline: 2 weeks Methods: Model Building, Rhino Based on a series of abstract prompts given over the course of a week, this design was to accommodate two clients on one site. As the prompts were given, a narrative was developed to help inform design decisions. This process resulted in a narrative of a Sculptor, and their business partner the Gallery Owner. Set into the hill, and carving deep into the landscape the building gives each person a separate apartment attached to their work space.

3D Movement Study
Summer 2014 - Alex Josephson Time line: 2 weeks Programs: Rhino, Grasshopper, Illustrator, Photoshop Partner: Jacqui Daniels A figure skating jump is an example of bodily movement occurring in every direction simultaneously. To accomplish capturing this 3D movement in 2D representation, while accounting for time, was a challenge. Each major joint was tracked. The placement of these points is how figure skaters learn to do the movement. The forceful throwing of the main joints of the body creates the momentum of the spins and jump. Our representation shows the torrent of motion that creates a smooth beautiful element in the figure skaters routine.

Community Centre - Toronto, Ontario Fall 2014 James MacGillivray
Time line: 6 weeks for precedent study and massing 6 weeks for final concept Programs: AutoCAD, Illustrator, Photoshop, Rhino The idea of interest extracted from a study of Rafael Moneo’s strategy for the Roman Art Museum was the intricacy of maze like circulation created as the arches worked with the ruins. The design uses Moneo’s organizing principles by punching through the walls to accommodate program. The interior explores the enfilade and repetition of offset arches. In sequence the arches create diagonal lines of sight, complex circulation, and a sense of permeability to the dog park.
