ILL R AT ION PORTFOLIO LAURA ZELAYA 2017

HOLA! Welcome to my Illustration Portfolio! I hope you enjoy my artwork because I know I enjoyed doing it!

ABOUT THIS BOOK As you can see on the images, I am a fan of the human body, and realism. In this book, you will see a variation of realistic looking artwork as well as a combination between realism and cartoons. What I find most interesting, is how we are all so imperfect, yet perfect in our own imperfections. Just notice the drawing of the guy. It seems to be two different people, yet they look similar enough to be the same person. Art is beautiful and a mystery I am always ready to investigate!

REFLECTION

REFLECTION This is one of my very favorite pieces. It reflects the lady’s self in the future, when her life has ended. Her corpse is caressing her face lovingly as she delivers her message. “Time passes by pretty quickly so you should never forget to live to the fullest!” Media: Traditional (Pencil and Sketch Pad)

MR. SPITON The very first drawing I did as my avatar for Illustration I class. He was a great challenge regarding the ideation process. He is a mixture of the Peacock spider and a skeleton. I went through many designs to get to this final one. I am very proud of Mr. Spiton, he earned me a really big fat A! Media: Traditional (Marker)

AVON

AVON An avatar for Illustration II, dedicated to the Crowman Burana Project. This was my personal approach for the “Avon character in the story. I focused on a dynamic position to give the composition energy and movement. Media: Traditional (Pen and Marker)

CRAZY MR. ROGERS Crazy Mr. Rogers was a project developed for Sequential Illustration. It was a lot of fun writing the story and illustrating it. Despite the fun time working on it, it was a challenge designing the characters. The hard part was not much on what they would look like, but on the expression of the different feelings. Media: Traditional (Pencil on Marker Paper)

CHARACTER DESIGNS Some designs I have done in my personal time, and others for Character Design class. If you would like to see the complete characters and collection, check my behance portfolio at: lzelayamahchi.myportfolio.com.

Media: Traditional (Pencil)

ROBOTIKA

ROBOTIKA She is another avatar. She is for the Character Design class. Robotika is a female robot who is able to feel and express emotions. When she is in the blue/purplish color, she is sad, when she is red, she is angry, and when she is colorful, she is at her normal, or might be in the process of identifying a color with a specific emotion. Media: Traditional (Prisma Color Pencils and Pencil)

JADE ALEGANZA Meet Jade Aleganza! She is a warrior who lives in the swamps. She has amazing fighting skills, and her favorite weapon are the spears. Media: Traditional (Prsima Colors on Marker Paper)

DEFORMED OLIVIA This is deformed Olivia, and she is not a very friendly girl. She had a horrible past. She was born with a deformity on her head and for that reason she was a disgrace to her family. By the time she turned 18, she was stabbed to death by her father. Now she haunts others who are afraid of her deformity. She stabs them to death as revenge. Media: Traditional (Prsima Colors on Marker Paper)

ELAHEH SAFAVI

ELAHEH SAFAVI A Persian queen. She is the Black Widow Archetype. Elaheh Safavi was done for the Character Design class as well. She uses her seductive and manipulative ways to obtain whatever she desires from others. Media: Traditional (Prisma Color Pencils on Marker Paper)

SELF PORTRAIT

SELF PORTRAIT This portrait was a lot of fun. I got to experiment with a variety of colors and use the Prisma Markers for the first time. I really felt satisfied with this contemporary art style. It was fun, and different from what I am used to doing. Media: Traditional (Prisma Markers)
