ALP HAUS
Alp Haus, a 1000 sq ft residence, exemplif ies high-functioning, dynamic space planning, compelling inter iors, impactful architecture, and user-dr i ven spaces. Designed with simple geometr y and a less-is-more approach, the reco gnizab le and graphic for m of Alp Haus embodies contemporar y residential design. In each section of the Alp Haus, nature is invited into the inter ior. In the li ving space, the seating area is surrounded on three sides with glass. Glass also surrounds the kitchen area so that while, dining, washing dishes, or traveling up and down the stairs, the residents can exper ience the outdoors. In the master, there is a full view of the landscape from the bed and a slightly obscured, b ut still exposed view from the bathtub or shower. Alp Haus is or iented so that its largest walls of glass face nor th while its west side recei ves the least-direct sun, to minimize ther mal heat. Sk ylights on the sloping roofs, however, face south to allow natural light into the space throughout the day.

T he inter ior of Alp Haus combines a muted color palette, stimulating textures and mater ials, and the unobstr ucted view of its canyon location. PHOTOGRAPHY Proper ty of T hird P ar ties T he contrasting mater ials of the inter ior like metal, concrete, glass, wood, and wool create a dynamic fusion of textures. T he color palette emphasizes these textures as light is absorbed or ref lected dif ferently be each. For example, the star k white walls ref lect while the war m wood tones absorb.

T here needed to be accommodation for enter taining and a do g b ut no more,"-Laura Taylor T he graduated f loor plan of Alp Haus be gins with the most pub lic space (li ving) followed by slightly more intimate spaces (dining and kitchen areas) while the most pr i vate spaces (master bed and bath) are tucked away.
