SQUARE CIRCLE STUDIOS The design for Square Circle’s creative office was inspired by the concept of a walkable green roof that dominated the structure. There was an emphasis on the connection between Canary Wharf’s modern, high rise, glass buildings, and the public park on the Thames. The integration of environmentally sustainable elements along with the consideration of site forces allowed for the building’s envelope to provide a high percentage of the necessary energy required to power the structure.

Solar Ivy Diagram
The goal of the project was to make the multi-use building as sustainable as possible. My partner and I researched the area thoroughly to try and utilize the available natural resources. Ultimately, we used thermochromic glazing. This dynamic window technology drastically reduced the heat load and glare coming into the building. Solar ivy was perhaps the most innovative system we utilized. The solar ivy is a system of thin, fluttering solar panels that generate energy by sparkling in the sunlight. Wind and solar power are generated through a combination of photovoltaic technology and piezoelectrics .

555 INTERNATIONAL OFFICE The workpace is evolving. Changes in technologies, work styles, business strategies, practices, and approaches to employee creativity and innovation are often dependent on the physical environment to achieve full business success. This studio took a comprehensive look at integrating all programmatic, technical, and professional requirements of a complex project. 555 is an award winning global design, development, and fabrication firm based in Chicago, Illinois. Their unique business model and company culture provided for an undeniably interesting study into the art of office design.

ELEMENT HOTEL Dallas is a rapidly growing city and expanding. Trinity Groves, once a warehouse and industrial area, is the last open plot of land connected to downtown Dallas. Gensler Dallas’ intern class of 2016 was interested in urban revitilization. When presenting concepts to Marti Collins, the founder and CEO of Gatehouse Capital Corporation, our team emphasised the need to fuse the Element Brand with Dallas culture. Our design included the exterior, interiors, and parking structure. In addition to the hotel design proposal, we toured a variety of Dallas hotels to fully understand the hospitality market. Watch the full design process at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxmoOIhDzXM.

URBAN LOFT & PHOTOGRAPHY STUDIO Residential loft designed for David Bishop and his family. David is a commercial food photographer currently based in NYC. His loft was designed to accommodate his photography studio needs as well as his family’s privacy needs. The concept intended to suggest creating unique perspective views through portals much like a photographers lens. The use of angular ceilings defines the spaces.

INSTITUTE FOR FOOD The Institute for Food is a collaborative initiative to engage diverse communities around issues of food, health, and sustainable agriculture. The farm is working to build an interdisciplinary curriculum, a 35 acre organic university farm, a community garden, and an experimental education center to promote greater awareness of food systems that support individual health, resilient communities, and agricultural sustainability. My design team set out to envision the possiblities of the built and branded environment. The design strategy won second place overall and allowed the designers to speak at Miami Universities Food Symposium this past fall.

ALDRICH WEDDING Wedding Save the Dates and programs were designed for the wedding of Julie Bishop and Alex Aldrich. All text was drawn by hand, converted to an Illustrator file, then the file was used to lasercut the letterpress stamp. Each card was individually printed using an old printing press. After production of the Save the Dates, the bride requested a similarly designed set of programs for the day of the wedding. While the process is tedious, the letterpress techique allows for an embossment that is nearly impossible to replicate digitally.

PERSONAL BRAND The design of my logo was derived from my initals LEB. Letterpress was the driving inspiration of my personal brand. Letterpress, invented in the 1440s, was the primary form of communication and printing for more than 500 years. Without printing my name, the mark subtly hints at the layering effect that printmaking so beautifully creates. Further inspiration was drawn from modern letterpress concert posters. The light blue color is subtle, allowing my projects to have their own personalities. Each project design is unique to the users, therefore, I have no specific design style.
