PROGETTARE IL VUOTO BOGOTÁ: DAL PARQUE BICENTENARIO ALL’AVENIDA JIMENEZ, UNA PROSPETTIVA PER GLI SPAZI IRRISOLTI Thesis | 2018 | Laura Conti
Bogotá was founded in 1538 by Spanish colonizers who followed the rigid scheme of the classic damero. Today the city is a complex and articulated reality characterized by an irregular and illogical densification of lots. A deep analysis of the rigid scheme of the quadras and the historical maps is key to understanding the growth and the development of the urban city. To this purpose, it is also important to consider the influence that the human component has had on the city, which is the product of contrasting socio-economic-political forces that have shaped the reality in unpredictable and contradictory ways. Finally, the analysis of the original urban plans and the modern urban regeneration interventions is of fundamental importance to the development of a project aimed at creating quality public spaces. The goal is to investigate and define intervention strategies to allow citizens to reappropriate the urban voids of the Las Nieves district, through the inclusion of routes and new centrality.

The project starts from analisis of three districts of Bogotรก; in particular, Las Nieves and Centro Historico were compared.

ACME PROPOSAL FOR A FLAGSHIP STORE FILICORI ZECCHINI Academic work | 2016 | Laura Conti, Michela Denittis, Silvia Massai, Elsa Unti
The design theme is the creation of a flagship store for the well-known Bolognese company Filicori Zecchini, a coffee producer; a model that proposes the style and values of the brand with the aim of encouraging potential customers to identify with the brand. The goal is to enhance the shopping experience by defining a path that guides the customer in a continuous sensory experience, and gives, at the same time, intimate spaces in which to relax. The design idea aims to define a full interpenetration between internal spaces, flows and the shell of the building. The entire structure is defined through the division into volumes and curved surfaces: the shell is defined by a dynamic facade that communicates with the surrounding buildings, creating suggestive spaces; while the volume is internally excavated by a system of ramps and floors that define the promenade and, at the same time, a complex spectacle of full and empty spaces, more intimate zones and larger common areas.

It was decided to completely fill the lot. The shell splits at the intersection with the flows.

KIRIBOAT SCHOOL BOAT SYSTEM, A SERVICE OPEN TO ALL YAC Academy | 2020 | Laura Conti, Jacopo Donato, Elena Giaccone, Tatiana Nebiolo, Alessandro Tamburello
Kiribati is an island state located in the Pacific Ocean, east of Australia. Remoteness and geographic dispersion are major problems for Kiribati, specifically the dispersion of its many islands. The rise of the sea level, due to climate change, is leading to an increasing dispersion and distance between islands and a rapid urban sprawl in small areas. In particular, South Tarawa is considered Kiribati’s main attraction, a center for administrative, educational, industrial and commercial services. The sudden population of this area, now populated by more than half the world’s population, has led to serious sanitary conditions for the people who live in these places. In order to cope with a lack of school services and to stem the problem of migration to South Tarawa, a schoolboat has been designed, like a symbol of an inclusive service, accessible to everyone.

InsideOut PROTOTYPE OF SUSTAINABLE SCHOOL IN RAW EARTH, IN YEBOAHKROM Workshop | 2017 | Laura Conti
The goal of the workshop is the building of a school in the village of Yeboahkrom in Ghana, through the collaboration of local people and young volunteers. The school is designed and built entirely with local materials: the walls of the classrooms are built with the raw earth construction technique, pisĂŠ. The InsideOut project proposes a layout for the classrooms that creates multifunctional spaces, in continuity within the context. The longitudinal walls are staggered to create a portico in front of the classrooms: the palms constitute the continuation of the walls. In this way, the boundary between exterior and interior is eliminated. The access doors to the classrooms, characterized by a design of wooden slats that open completely, also determine a complete continuity between the exterior and interior.

The wall is made by a mixture of soil, sand, and cement, compressed within a wooden formwork.

Tower for Emilia URBAN STRATEGIES AFTER THE EARTHQUAKE IN EMILIA Academic work | 2014 | Erica Bergamini, Laura Conti
The project theme involves the study and design of an urban centrality in Mirandola, an Emilian city hit by an earthquake. It requires the creation of new attractive poles, which strengthen the identity of the place, renewing it. Starting from a reflection on the transience of life and on how much a rapid adaptation of man in critical contexts is increasingly necessary, we wanted to reflect on what we tend to classify negatively as temporary and lacking in character, choosing the reuse of containers in architecture. The challenge consists of creating a vertical city, which can potentially be developed indefinitely, and is a catalyst for events and social spaces.

VIEw URBAN INTERVENTION STRATEGIES FOR THE OLD TOWN OF TARANTO Workshop | 2017 | Laura Conti, Alessia Rossetti, Tommaso Russo, Michelangelo Tria
VIEw is created to propose an intervention strategy that focuses on three themes: sustainability , accessibility, and regeneration. Accessibility is seen as the need for a project that is a solution to everyday problems, which emerged during the morphological and social investigation. It will lead to the creation of a network of new urban centralities, developed between the unsolved and abandoned spaces of the city. Regeneration is considered as the aim of enhancing the characteristics of the territory, through environmental, social and economic sustainability interventions, which interpret it from different perspectives, transforming it into a dynamic landscape. The intention is to enhance the direct relationship with the sea and the morphology of the city.

RECUPERO E TRADIZIONE DIAGNOSTIC ANALYSIS E REHABILITATION INTERVENTIONS Academic work | 2017 | Laura Conti
The project starts from the study of a farmhouse typical of Italian architecture in central Italy. It is a mixed structure, consisting on the ground floor of sack masonry, and on the first floor of a three-headed masonry, with a wooden hut roof. Starting from a careful photographic analysis of the crack pattern, the goal is to recover the structure through interventions that guarantee an adequate level of safety, both in static and dynamic conditions. Also, to improve internal comfort through energy requalification interventions. The building recovery project also interprets an architectural solution that aims to renew the construction tradition by providing contemporary environments.
