STORIEforti REUSE of ‘forte ROSSAROL’, Tessera, Venice The area give hospitality to immigrants (especially minors), to political refugees and to people who need recovery (from alcohol, drugs and gambling addiction) and any other kind of social reintegration. We want to reuse the fortress as an archive-laboratory to tell true life stories of these people. In this sense the fort would be opened to the local community and visitors.

The main concept of the project is lightness, in opposition to the heaviness of the existing building. The intern space has been re-interpretated avoiding demolitions. Three new minimal constructions are placed at the ends and on top of the building.

STATE OF THE ART Togeter with the research group, I made a thorough report on the most significant restoration or reconstruction of Fortresses and Castles, carried out during the past 50 year. We classified these examples according to restoration cathegories defined by Giovanni Carbonara. This report helped me choosing the appropriate design approach to rebuild the Tower of castel Caporiacco.

‘Castello vecchio’

1_AUTONOMY / DISSONANCE Frome the high contrast of parasitic coexistence and forced overlap, to the sought contrast between ancient and new. 2_ASSIMILATION / CONSONANCE Pursuance of the original language, sometimes based on imitation, some other times based on original techniques and principles of composition. 3_Dialectical CONNEXION / IMAGE INTEGRATION Exaltation of the ancient object: figurative quality and methodological strictness of ‘the new’ to stand out ‘the old’. 4_DIRECT NON-ACTION The minimum actions required to present and to make the area accessible.

PRIENE

the city plan guides the Architecture. Bachelor Thesis in science of architecture Supervisor: Prof. Arch. Augusto Romano Burelli University of Udine After critical reviewing of the archaeologists works carried out from the second half of the 18th century to the present day, I made a graphical depiction of how the city of Priene (Turkey) could look like at the end of the IV century BC. The aim of the thesis is to highlight the close relationship between the buildings and the urban plan. Pytheos, who probably designed the city, was a very important architect in the ancient world. Vitruvius treatise ‘De Architectura’ is based also on his works. However he is now unfairly forgotten. Freehand drawing using red pencils and ink on white cardboards (all panels measure 100x70 cm).
