THE ANCIENT EYES of florence
The monuments and structures of Florence have seen so much. As the years pass by, they become just like all those great trees and landscapes of the world, ancient bystanders. 4

Door Knockers of Florence
A brief photographic investigation of form over function.
It's all in the details. Florence has some brilliantly inimitable architectural detail in the form of door knockers ranging from lions to gremlins to goblins.

often hang out on the bridge, although we know it's not permitted. We watch the river speed by, discussing current happenings, and sharing feelings. It almost feels as though we're untouchable when we're on the bastion... Suspended above water, and away from it all. Time stops, and for that moment, we are together forever."

With the word coffee, Italians always think of an espresso. The taste and strong smell is what attracts to have one.

It's part of Italians' everyday life and has become a symbol of Italy. Every minute is good for a coffee. We can drink: * Macchiato: with very little milk * Lungo: nearly full cup, light flavor * Ristretto: less water, stronger flavor * Freddo: with ice * Corretto: with a bit of liquor At home, Italians often have breakfast with a cup of caffelatte (hot milk and very little coffee). The most famous hot italian coffee in the world is cappuccino. It's name derives from the color of the garments of the cappucchini frails, and it consists of an espresso with milk foam.

EVEN WHEN YOU LEAVE YOU KNOW you'll be back. everyone always comes back SALA VERDE 27
To The Bridge So easily lost in the night, life. Easily forgotten, and lightly tarnished Candlelight, so promisingly fools the most eager eyes I swim through the needy alcoholics, and drunk beauties I walk through the doors, held open for me And I walk The night so crisp, So perfectly lost in time.. Bridges which mean more to me than to cross a river.. On the bridges, where memories are alive I listen to the whispering water Reasuring, calming, empowering The silence that runs through my bones Bringing life not only to me, but the silent night Nothing matters but the present moment, And the love, the light, the joy with which I spend it.. Carrying my loves on my shoulders, My faiths and aspirations in my pocket I become drunk with life a Firenze Vera Polic
What I find intriguing about Florence, is that no matter where I look I see something inspiring, personally as well as professionally.
FIRENZE I AM AWAKE Florence night life never disappoints. Each day of the week it is possible to find some form of entertainment; cinemas, restaraunts, bars, clubs, lounges, etc. Part of our life as students was to do heavy research of the night life...

Vol. II - December 2010
It's the end of our 2010 Master of Graphic Design course and we say goodbye to an eventful year, full of discoveries, challenges and transformations. We dedicate this issue of La Sala Verde to the amazing city that brought us together and keeps surprising and inspiring us. These pages try to capture some of Florence's many faces, from high art to street art, and turn them into graphic expressions, Different visions and different experiences: some capture an intimate moment, a movement of the heart, others catalogue the wealth of visual details that surround us. It's almost time to leave, but as Chloe says, everyone always comes back...
