ROLE: presentation board, millwork and construction drawings, design of custom made furniture, FF&E selection
The architectural design of the building designed by the Indian firm Morphogenesis, involves the development of spaces that overlook a large central hall distribution. The realization of the interior took into account the culture and tradition of the surroundings. The image of this prestigious new headquarters has entrusted the extensive use of marble and precious woods. The design has focused on every aspect of the space from the finishes to the furniture which often were created as unique objects.

To truly characterise a building as strong and important as this the first aim was to support and enhance any architectural and functional element already built. The planned interventions constitute by completion and temporary outfitting. The first are the necessary furniture and accessories of the main spaces of the theater; in their definition we chose an essential and contemporary sign where the rigorous design and the geometric composition derive from the architectural context. The outfitting interventions made with elements from old sets compared with the strength of the architecture and the magic of the theater.

the Brick Connection Inciac/Incisa Corten Line Terra/Mare

the brick
San Vero Milis, Oristano The name “the brick” sums up the concept of the project: the idea of a clay brick that comes out of the ground. The volume is partially underground to emphasize the idea of emergence from the soil. Usually this material needs to be plastered to have more protection against the rain, but it was decided to protect the building with an “L” shape roof covering. This “shelter” has formed a relationship with the existing cultural center both in height and materials used. The complex consists of three spaces which have been divided with functionality in mind: the hall in the middle, the auditorium to the sides and the associations.

Connection - urban center on the waterfront of la spezia The thesis formed part of the winning project of the international competition of ideas for the design of the new waterfront of La Spezia; particularly the urban center to connect the city center to the walk ‘Morin’. “Connection”, the name of the project, wants to indicate a strong link between these parts of the city to the pedestrian walk; the building wants to be an important step for anyone traveling in either direction. Its shape fits the sinuous line of the waterfront, and tilts itself stretching out towards the sea. The building would become a link and a route, both internal and external. Inside, a ramp leads the visitor through the exhibition space, while outside the possibility to climb on the roof, allows a scenic walk on the gulf.

Inciac/Incisa - cultural center Incisa Valdarno, Firenze
The project is promoted by the city administration that wants to create a new center of attraction for the city of Incisa Valdarno. The new building must contain functions related to everyday life, a place where people can relate to each other, and that could become a meeting point for social exchange. It is also planned redevelopment of the football field, destined to offer a new urban park. The concept of integration is the same who led and inspired the concept of the building; a mix of integrated functions and connected to each other, with different physical and visual strategies.

Corten-line - temporary exhibition Villa Adriana, Tivoli
Three exhibition spaces joined by the same theme: a corten element that is modelled to included the temporary exhibition “Imperial Family and Syncretism of the state. Along the wall of the Pecile, the visitors are guided by the corten element through the exhibition, with exhibitor and information points that branch out from it. In the Hall of the Philosophers, the line leans against the wall and deforms to contain the works. In the Maritime Theatre, the corten line follows the circular shape and becomes a ring supported by glass cases, that contain the statues of the imperial family.

Terra/mare - museum and cruise station in la spezia
roof concept > masterplan > ^
The thesis developed a part of the winning project for the redevelopment of the waterfront in La Spezia: the island with the cruise station. The main idea is to conceive this space as an extension of the city, where the maritime station and the museum are integrated into a single complex, that can be visited every day of the year. The position on the border gives rise to the name of the complex, “land / sea.” In order to avoid a massive building on the island, it was decided to bury some of the building, including the museum, and create a central path that leads to its entry. At the city level, the building is modeled further; a tilted roof allowing the visitor to ascend for a scenic walk in a new urban route. This area can be also used by an open air theater, for concerts and shows, due to the seats that characterize the roof.

Competition for the redevelopment the exterior area of the “Museo e Centro di documentazione sulla deportazione e resistenza di Figline di Prato (2010) The competition involves the renovation of the facade of the museum and the space in front of it; in particular it was required to design an intervention to find a place for the names of the victims of the Tuscan deportees to concentration camps, and the names of partisans who died in the liberation struggle. The idea was to convey the visitors at the entrance, by two triangular roof elements, inclined towards the entrance to the museum. These covers are supported by tilted poles that look like needles that pierce the roof and they thicken near the entrance to give the people a sense of oppression and disconfort. The names of the 1750 victims are engraved on the poles.

tubo
“Instant House” small houses for expo 2015 The concept starts from the idea of the pipe as the connecting element as its shape refers to the links as an analogy to the shape of train carriages, subways, tunnels and highways. The project is a “tube” composed of circular modules, shaped differently depending on the function; the furniture is built in the same profile. The union of the modules creates a housing unit, and the various functions could be positioned according to the special needs of the user. The focus is also about the easy way for assembly and disassembly, eco-sustainability and recyclability of materials, that are really important themes, especially for a temporary building. possible location > modules >
