My Land.Sky.Heaven. series is Rothko inspired, using the color palette taken from across all of my collections. This tenth iteration was taken more specifically from the Candied Land collection. I was inspired to create a simplified, more primitive approach to the typical landscape; with the additional abstract concept of a layered, milky heaven full of depth and light hovering above each piece. There is also a red grid peeking through each work that symbolizes the interconnected nature of our lives with our Creator; you can visually trace the red thread from this life into the next. I am thankful that this world is only separated from heaven by a thin veil, just a breath away from where we stand.
The promise of something greater, looming over our broken lives, gives me great hope and peace. My desire is that these works would serve as a reminder of these beautiful truths.

Laurel-Dawn graduated from Auburn University with a BFA in graphic design with a strong focus in fine art. She has been working in the design field for over 10 years and painting in the margins of her chaotic and beautiful life as a wife and mother. In 2020, Laurel-Dawn took the leap into being a fine artist, full time.
Laurel-Dawn has always drawn inspiration from the lines made from her Creator; the natural lines of a rigid mountainside, or the dramatic curves seen in leaves and flower petals. She strives to glorify beauty that already exists from her small corner of the world; embracing the delicate, yet messy process of being an artist.
Laurel-Dawn currently resides in Homewood, Alabama with her husband and two boys.
