DESIGN THINKING Clearly Identify the clients desire and psychological needs and asking what does young people and family love to do during their free time? They like to go on adventures, so lets take them to our Client’s culture Australia! Our Client had a Restaurant in Savannah Collins Quarter, its name comes from a district in Melbourne. We wanted this new design to echo the other restaurant, and through researches we found another district, Fitzroy in Melbourne to work our concept further. CLIENT PROFILE Anthony Debreceny is an entrepreneur that has 3 restaurants in Savannah. Originally from Melbourne, Australia. He is very open to any design suggestions. TARGET AUDIENCE Students and Families
34
CONCEPT STATEMENT
The Fitzroy Kitchen and Bar reflects the ambiance of Melbourne’s first suburb: Fitzroy, a city that embodies the bohemian charm of a city full of life and eclecticism and best known for its liberal life- style, unique street art and music scenes. The Rose Market in Fitzroy was an inspiration for our design. From their Instagram we extracted a vibrant and eclectic color palette.

TARGET AUDIENCE
GUEST PROFILE Mr Wong is a 45 year old wealthy, Chinese businessman from Shanghai. He is known for importing the famous French brand of wine “Chateau Lascombes” in Asia, and he is a member of the prestigious Wine and Club company. He often conducts business in Ho Chi Minh to promote the brand of “Chateau Lascombes” in several popular restaurants in the city.
TARGET : CHINESE BUISNESS TRAVELERS They enjoy having the feeling of prestige and being well entertained. Even though they appreciate the western luxury-life style, the concept of this hotel will also be about the local experience by applying a native lifestyle into their rooms.
61

While he is traveling, he loves to play majhong and to spend his money on luxury products. He believes in Taoist philosophy and practices Tai Chi and meditation nearly every day in order for him to find balance in life. He is very superstitious and believes in the power of Feng Shui. Western culture inspires him a lot, especially French culture. Because of his busy schedule, he wants things to be fast, confortable and efficient. After a long day of work, he loves to drink Japanese green tea and eat pot noodles on his bed, watching a movie in front of a large screen TV.
ELEVATIONS
ART SELECTION
In Vietnam, there are two main seasons: The monsoon and the warm season. The Elevator and Corridors represents the theme of Vietnamese Seasons
Lift 1:10
The Elevator part represents the monsson period. It is represented through the use of elegant fountains that drop on each floors.
Corridor 1:10
The Corridor represents the warm seasons. The passage of time is shown through the game of colors, that changes throughout the time of the day.
Cong Kim Hoa is one of the few female artists who uses primarily lacquer as her medium. Hoa specialises in semi-abstract and abstract paintings, however one can often recognize the contours of masks, faces, fish, lotus flowers or other organic forms in her work. The sensitivity that flows through her paintings is filled with depth and detail; it is full of feeling and abundant with life. The abundance that fills Cong Kim Hoa’s paintings is not merely representations of physical forms but rather expressions of her emotional knowledge and personal history.

PLANAR STRUCTURE THE SILVERY SWAN - 20x36 freestanding structure. - Establish a poetic and dynamic form of a graceful figurative animal that would highlight unity and harmony I choose the Swan because I think that its anatomy and the plumage could be very interesting to work on. While I was exploring planar structure with Bristol board paper, I evaluated circular shapes and realized that it was easy to twist and bend the paper. Materials: - Xacto Knife cutter - Task board davy board - Bristol paper - Wood glu - Rubber cement and super glue. Process: I first cut planar forms from the task board and I paste the decorative paper with rubber cement. I than twist and curved some leaves and sprayed some water on it in order to keep the shape stable. Once every pieces were dry, I assembled them and glued them together with super glue.
