LETTER FROM THE PUBLISHER
IT’S SUMMER! Summer. It’s a time for appreciating all that bring simple joy. For me, the joys of New England are always on that list: The sea, cookouts with friends and family, fields of beautiful flowers and roadside vegetable stands, clam chowder and boiled lobster, the Nantucket Ferry and Newport Bridge, the rocks at Knollwood Beach in Old Saybrook and The Gris in Essex. And I look forward to them all the more this year because, over the past few seasons, it seems I have lived a thousand lifetimes. I’ve experienced miracles and found great joy in them. I have experienced profound loss and felt enormous pain. I have made some bad connections — and found amazing love! As is true of all of us, in the past seasons of my year, I’ve had the choice to learn, to grow through both difficult situations and times of good. And I believe that you, like me, know more than you think you do. In adversity, we all have the opportunity to learn important lessons. With determination, we can always find another way. With an open mind, we can see new possibilities. With an open heart, we may discover new partners to accompany us as we move forward with our big, bold purpose. And so, for me and for you, a new season begins. I wish you a wonderful summer, wherever you may be. Enjoy the simple things. Embrace your loved ones. And if challenges arise, believe in yourself. In every season, begin with YOU. Begin with YES. Just BEGIN! Blessings,
LMM

I fell in love with a barre-based workout called The Lotte Berk Method in 1981 while I was living in New York City and opened four of my own Lotte Berk Method studios during the 90s. During that time, I worked with physical therapists to make the class safer and more targeted, and in 2000, I founded The Bar Method.

The Fit Scene Lets face it, as much as it pains us to admit it, it’s always bikini season in South Florida. We come up with excuse after excuse as to why we can’t make it to the gym, until it’s the middle of June and we are agonizing over the thought of putting on a bathing suit. We plan on taking preventative measures now, so we don’t pay for it later. That being said, our ‘go to’ bikini ready workout is Flywheel Sports. Flywheel Sports is an indoor stadium cycling studio, which is also home to Flybarre, a total body-sculpting workout. Each Flywheel class is a 45 or 60-minute experience where you have the opportunity to burn over 600-800 calories. Let’s face it; a spin class is all gourmet brunch, a complimentary

Your legs receive a much-deserved break halfway through the class during Flywheel’s arm series where you work your arms with weighted bars. Why do we love Flywheel? It’s a short class where you can go at your own pace, which is key for a successful workout. This escape will challenge your body while relaxing your mind. Flywheel has two locations in Florida, one in Boca Raton and one in Miami Beach. Your first class is free, but for more information or to reserve your class, visit, www.flywheelsports.com.

Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself. — RUMI
Are you tired of ignoring that desire for more in life? Do you often feel like there is something bigger for you to accomplish in this lifetime? Maybe you’re just unsure of the next step to take. The feeling of ‘hitting a plateau’ is common right before getting to something good. It’s the natural progression of change. The reason for the pause is often because we have some “self” work to do. How are you going to go run that dream business, plant that creative seed or (fill in the blank) if you are not deeply connected to yourself? 30 — PALM BEACH WOMAN

Leading with your heart is fashionable these days especially when it comes to matters of philanthropy. Women are taking center stage in modeling ways to listen to their heart and find their authentic voice through the generous and compassionate giving of their time, talent and treasure.

10 KITCHEN TIPS Make changes without spending a lot.
Paint. It’s that simple. Painting your walls a new color makes them
look brand new. Update your counters. Can’t afford to completely remodel your kitchen? Spend
a little to just update your counters. Changing your existing laminate counters to Quartz will do wonders for the overall look of your kitchen.

Update your cabinet hinges. For example, switch out your door hinges for Blum soft clo-
se hinges. The hinges cost approx. $10 each and really offer a high end detail for a low cost. The blum hinges allow your doors to close softly, on their own at 2”.

MARK MY WORDS
STAY THE COURSE Start doesn’t mean start and then stop. It means you keep going, that each day is another start, no matter how the terrain has changed. And when we work with this definition of start- “staying the course”— tomorrow will come with its own resources. Change your mind if you must. Change direction if you must. Adjust your sails. But don’t stop. — MIKE DOOLEY
