Lausanne Board of Trustees

Lausanne welcomed four new members to the Lausanne Board of Trustees at the start of the 2021–2022 school year. These individuals are highly respected by the Lausanne community for their leadership, thoughtfulness and dedication to our school and to the broader Memphis community.

Rebecca Belz ‘04

Rebecca Belz was born and raised in Memphis. After graduating from Lausanne in 2004, Rebecca earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Emory University in Atlanta, GA. She worked for various jewelry designers in New York City before returning home to Memphis to start her jewelry company, Becca Belz Jewelry, earn her master’s degree in fine arts from Memphis College of Art and start her family.

Rebecca is married to Sam Fargotstein, also a native Memphian. They have two daughters, Brianna ’33 and Gemma, a future Lausanne Lynx.

Joe DeVivo

Joseph DeVivo leads the Hospital and Health System business for Teladoc Health. Under his direction, the integrated platform and hardware business addresses the comprehensive needs of hospitals, health systems, retail clinics and physician groups globally.

Active in industry leadership as well as philanthropy, Joe is a member of the board of Mauna Kea Technologies, AdvaMed, the American Telemedicine Association and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in business administration from the Robins School of Business at the University of Richmond.

Joe and his wife, Barbara, are the proud parents of Emily ’28 and Matthew ’31.

Asima Farooq

Asima Farooq is a Chicago native but has called Memphis home for seventeen years. She graduated from the University of Memphis with a degree in elementary education and has taught both 1st and 5th grade. More recently, she served as a volunteer teacher at Perea Elementary School. She loves film and Bollywood and is proud to have served on the board of Indie Memphis for the last four years. Over the years, Asima has spent countless hours volunteering for Lausanne Parent Connections, and we are thrilled to announce her new role as LPC Executive Director.

She and her husband, Farees, are parents to two current Lausanne students, Hana ’23 and Haris ’25, while their eldest son, Ibrahim ’20, embarks on his sophomore year at George Washington University.

Domingo Hurtado

Domingo Hurtado has served as the Senior Vice President of International Customer Satisfaction at AutoZone since October 2018, when he relocated to Memphis from Monterrey, Mexico, where he served as President of AutoZone de Mexico. In addition to his work at AutoZone, he also serves on the Board of Directors of the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art.

Domingo is from Venezuela, while his wife, Monica, is from Colombia, where she and Domingo met and married. Their eldest daughter, Sofia, is also from Venezuela, while their youngest, Elisa, was born in Mexico.

Elisa ’25 has begun her freshman year at Lausanne, while Sofia remains in Monterrey, where she is completing her sixth year of medical school.

In loving remembrance of Leo Bearman

Lausanne Board of Trustees, 2011–2020 Father, Amy Bearman Dorsey ’86 Grandfather, Isaac Dorsey ’22 & Levi Dorsey ’25 Brother, Kay Bearman ’56

“Trustee, father, grandfather, brother, mentor, guardian… Leo Bearman was all of these things and more to Lausanne. Over the years, I spent many hours with him both on and off campus. During board meetings, Leo would listen more than he spoke. And when he did speak, the room would immediately fall quiet. We were all constantly captivated by his sage words of advice, and I always felt a bit smarter sitting next to him.

Leo’s passing left our school and the Memphis community a little less bright, but we are resolute in carrying on in ways that would make him proud.”
