terraced house 2010
Architectural design - laboratory 1 prof: Nicola Marzot, Simona Cinti, Marcello Balzani
The project is developed in a hypothetical parcel 18x7m and includes the study of a terraced house replicated N times. The building is set on the basis of square modules and to be able to take full advantage of the space, of this long batch, it was created a courtyard that divides the building in two. This allowed the construction of an annexe with separate entrance, used as a guest room, for a great son or for a possible tenant. The two parts are connected by a long glass corridor and the main materials used are concrete, wood and glass.

COHOUSING [ForlĂŹ] 2011
Architectural design - laboratory 2 prof: Paolo Rava, Emanuele Piaia working group: Giulia Ferro, Matteo Sergi, Laura Venturi
The complex is designed as a reinterpretation of the dynamism of a medieval village. With this logic the buildings are aggregated in a seemingly random way and the spaces follow and discover themselves one after another like in a village. Public functions are concentrated in the ground floor and consist of: pharmacy, gym, nursery, offices, workshop, laundry room and a local library of three floors. The apartments are designed to meet different needs of differently composed families. Consequently these are based on different typological schemes.

piagge town [firenze] 2011
Architectural design - laboratory 3 prof: Sergio Zanichelli, Paolo Iotti working group: Giulia Ferro, Matteo Sergi, Laura Venturi
The main focus of project is to become a new hub for the neighborhood thanks to a characteristic pedestrian walkways. It captures the flows of the main roads of the district and winds them within the area through the paths that embrace the central natural lake. Residential buildings are characterized by a punctual layout, while the commercial side is flatter, however the project maintain a homogeneous language thanks by facets and materials. This homogeneity is reflected in the roofs and also in the green design.

passive house [s.cesarea Terme- Le] 2012 Environmental design prof: Paola Boarin working group: Giulia Ferro, Matteo Sergi, Laura Venturi
The project develops from a cube of 13 meters on each side. By modeling the cube, although maintaining a compact form, openings and loggias were created, thanks to which is possible to reduce the solar irradiation on part of the surface and heat dissipation in summer. A central patio, on wich look out the main local and bedrooms, works as a cooling pit. The facade is coated in local stone panels, and due to its light color is able to limit the absorption of solar radiation and increase the albedo effect.

docks recovery [ferrara] 2012
Urban design laboratory prof: Marco Zaoli, Michele Ronconi working group: Giulia Ferro, Matteo Sergi, Laura Venturi
The area seeks to become a connecting element between the Dock River and the city of Ferrara, giving again the important role that the river has always played in the history of the city. The project extend some existing historical paths into the area in order to make permeable and usable the areas of intervention. It was also designed a main axis that cuts diagonally the area for ensuring the integration of the different sectors. An other important element identified within the area are the Walls; in order to value them, it will be creating a neighboring park.

restoration project of s.antonio abate [ferrara] 2012
Restoration of architectural heritage - laboratory prof: Rita Fabbri, Serena Ciliani, Fabio Bevilacqua working group: Giulia Ferro, Matteo Sergi, Laura Venturi
The church of S. Antonio Abate in Ferrara presents itself in an apparently good status; however it requires essential restoration interventions that ensure safe operation. Surely one of the first items to be fixed up will be the roof strcture who surrendered with obvious deformation; secondly we will need to take action on major cracks found in the apse, and then intervene with the execution of preliminary surveys and stratigraphic tests. The entire restoration project was accompanied by an analysis of the terracotta elements of the whole factory. details

PARK IN THE SPAR [parma] 2013 Architectural design - laboratory 4 prof: Andrea Bellodi, Elisa Spada, Valentina Cosmi working group: Giulia Ferro, Matteo Sergi, Laura Venturi
It was decided to greatly densify the less dense edges using the principle of grid settlement and leave the green space in the rest of the area. The building for the “EuroSpar supermarket ranks as a filter element between the park and the public square. This feature is enhanced by the presence of two large windows on the two main sides that give an effect of transparency and permeability almost as if the supermarket was jutting towards the park and vice versa; ensuring a new shopping experience.

STAR BUILDING [ROSOLINA - RO] 2013
Concept idea for a privat committent designers: Giulia Ferro, Matteo Sergi, Laura Venturi
The design of the Star Building sprout from the desire to seek workable solutions for develop a parcel with a rather complicated form. We have tried to use the space available in the most efficient way, creating three buildings, connected by shading canopies, able to create a central courtyard and interesting perspectives. The three buildings are developed as independent buildings with two appartments for floor and direct access to the subterranean garage from the stairwell.

R-URBAN TRAINING [bologna] 2014 Thesis prof: Nicola Marzot, Paolo Iotti, Vittorino Belpoliti, Valeria Farinelli working group: Giulia Ferro, Laura Venturi
The thesis project was developed to plug the progressive land consumption observed in the last decade, therefore it was decided to concentrate our attention on brownfield areas, which because of their condition often generate urban blight. “R-urban training comes from the desire to create a sub-fund of the city like a hybrid between rural and urban, between town and country. The strategy is based on transtemporality, through the creation of a functional program divided in phases independently from one another. The different phases will reactivate from time to time various fields.

G. House [SAN LAZZARO DI SAVEVA - BO] 2015-2016 collaboration designer: Ing. Massimo Centurelli [Studio C+T]
The project under construction refers to the renovation of a portion of a detached building. With the maintenance of existing volumes and the restyling of the exterior elevations, through compositional, chromatic and material changes, it was possible to give to the building a new life in a more contemporary look. The interiors have been completely rethought in the light of current needs. The living area is on the ground floor and on the side of the kitchen there is a terrace with a view on the river. While in the upper floors there are the sleeping area and the office.

PiADINA KIOSK [CASTEL GUELFO DI BOLOGNA - bo] 2015-2016
collaboration designer: Ing. Massimo Centurelli [Studio C+T]
The project consists of a proposal design for a piadina kiosk in the parking of a large shopping center near Bologna. The idea is to take the classic shape of piadina kiosks in Romagna and repropose it in a revised key. Then it was used the classic gabled shape, which usually distinguishes them, as a theater scene and replace the classic alternated blue and white strips with a burst of color.

FOOD & welness club [QUARTO INFERIORE - bo] 2015 the un-factory
competition working group punto.07: Giulia Ferro, Francesca Fini, Laura Gregori, Michele Petrizzo, Nicole Salice, Matteo Sergi, Laura Venturi
The new architecture that creeps inside the old becomes a metaphor of a natural process of colonization. The un-factory project is an architecture that declares the simulation. A process that find in chlorophyll the strength of the trial. The process of creating an un-factory uses strips to colonize the structure of the old abandoned factory. Similarly the ivy allegedly assaulted the walls and the trees would split the metal sheets. In both cases, the combination generates a new imagery.
