FYI These are birdhouses! Remove any perches with a handsaw. After sanding down each structure, brush on a coat of white Gesso (it’s thicker than primer and very smoothing).

1. Adhere vertical strips of red washi tape all over the house and trim the ends. We used 15-millimeter washi tape for the diagonal stripes and 8-millimeter for the straight ones. To make small pieces for the doorway and windows, place a strip of 15-millimeter tape on wax paper and cut—they’ll peel off easily. Attach washi tape to white vellum, then adhere vellum to the inside of each window with double-sided tape. 2. Cut a piece of red cardstock for the door and adhere with double-sided tape on the inside of the house. Hot-glue on a white bead for the knob, then hot-glue a mini wreath to the house.

1. Paint the base of the house green with crafts paint. Let dry. 2. Create a template for covering the front. Cut strips of printer paper to fit the front upper and lower sections, making sure they reach in corners and around the trim and window. Remove and use to trace the shapes you need on wrapping paper. Do the same for the back, sides, and roof. 3. Working on one section of the house at a time, brush on a thin layer of decoupage glue, such as Mod Podge, and press on the same-shape piece of wrapping paper. Smooth to remove bubbles, let dry, and trim excess with a crafts knife. Brush on another layer of decoupage glue to seal. Let dry. Do the same for the trim.

1. Paint the house and fence with brown crafts paint. Let dry. 2. Use sticky tack to temporarily adhere polymer clay candy, including the faux lollipops, to the house and fence until you like the placement; do halved pieces for trim. 3. Outline the “icing” designs with a chalk pen, erasing mistakes with a damp cotton swab. Remove the tack and secure each piece with hot glue. Go over the chalk lines with puffy fabric paint to resemble “icing” and let dry. 4. For the green wreath, stick two pieces of adhesive craft foam together to make a doubly thick piece. Trace a circle on top and cut with scallop scissors. Decorate with stick-on snowflakes and small circles of adhesive cut with a hole punch.

blinged-out brownstones
1. Paint each townhouse a different color of crafts paint. Let dry. 2. Using a ¾" -hole punch, cut out circles of glitter paper for the roof “shingles. ” Starting at the bottom of each roof, brush on decoupage glue and adhere a row of circles. Repeat, overlapping “shingles” slightly until each roof is covered. 3. To glitterize different parts of the house, brush decoupage glue on one spot at a time and shake on fine glitter. Tap the house to remove excess. 4. Decorate with gems (they make cute “doorknobs”), using hot glue. 5. For the dusting of snow, mix chunky snow glitter, fine glitter, and hexagonal glitter. Working in sections, brush decoupage glue onto spots where snow would naturally pile up, and shake on the glitter mix. Pat down and repeat.
