MOXI Sparking a Lasting Passion for Innovation
MOXI is the city’s newest destination for families and curious minds of all ages. The hands-on science museum is a place where you can explore and discover new things about the world around you, ask questions, seek answers, and have a blast doing so. Come ready to play throughout all three floors filled with 17,000 square feet of interactive experiences in science and creativity.
On the first floor, there are the areas dedicated to Sound, Fantastic Forces, and Tech, including MOXI’s own dedicated makerspace called the Innovation Workshop. The second floor features Light, Speed and Interactive Media, including a small black box theater which houses a variety of rotating exhibitions and shows. The third floor is home to the rooftop Levinson Family Sky Garden and features exhibits that take advantage of the natural elements and stunning views of the mountains, harbor, and Stearns Wharf.

MOXI is a place where fun comes first and learning happens in active, exciting, and unexpected ways. Create sound effects for popular movies, build and test a race car, or paint with light – you can do it all at MOXI. Keep an eye out for the museum’s floor staff, known as Sparks, who are there to ignite that learning by sparking your curiosity and creativity. They’re the ones in the blue shirts and will encourage you to experiment, observe, explore, discover, question, make and design.
MOXI is now open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Check the website for any special hours and holiday closures. General admission is $16 for adults (age 13 and up), and $12 for children age 3-12. Children 2 and under are admitted for free. One ticket gets you access to all MOXI has to offer. Located at 125 State Street, www.moxi.org, 805-770-5000.
