Benign Prostate Hyperplasia (BPH) The prostate is a gland that processes the fluid and transports sperm during ejaculation. The prostate gland is located near the urethra. The problem of BPH (Benign Prostate Hyperplasia) occurs when there is an excessive enlargement of the prostate gland. The enlarged prostate gland creates complications in the easy flow of urination. The problem of BPH (Benign Prostate Hyperplasia) is most common in men older than 60 years of age.


Causes of Benign Prostate Hyperplasia The exact cause of an enlarged prostate is not known. However, the most common factors that can lead to an enlarged prostate are ageing and alteration in the testicle cells, which results in an abnormal growth of the gland. The development of BPH (Benign Prostate Hyperplasia) starts in men as they reach the age of 40 and this condition exists throughout the life of an individual. Approximately 85% of the men over the age of 70 have this condition. In this condition, the bladder muscle becomes bulky and tightens the urethra by creating an excessive pressure. As a result, the bladder becomes more sensitive and the urge to urinate increases. The increase in the number of cells can also cause enlargement of the prostate.

However, these symptoms are not always related to BPH. Treatments The treatment of BPH (Benign Prostate Hyperplasia) depends on the seriousness of the condition and how much they affect an individual. The treatment of enlarged prostate will include, change in lifestyle, medications, and sometimes surgery. If there are mild symptoms, BPH can disorder can be, effectively treated at home by bringing some healthy changes in the lifestyle. Self care Treatment of BPH  Never try to control the urge to urinate. Go to the bathroom whenever you get a chance, even if you don’t feel like peeing.  Physical inactivity can also lead to BPH. hours before going to bed.  Cut down the intake of alcohol and other caffeine products.  Avoid stressful situations Medicines Most of the doctors suggest alpha-1 blocker drugs. These drugs lower high blood pressure, relax the muscle of bladder and prostate. These medicines treat the problems of bladder system and improve the process of urination. Antibiotics are also prescribed by the doctors to reduce the inflammation of the prostate.

Surgery If a patient shows no results with lifestyle and medicinal treatment, a doctor may perform the surgery to correct the disorders related to bladder system. Surgery is, recommended if there are frequent flow of blood in the urine, bladder stone, BPH causing harm to kidney system, incontinence and urinary retention. The most common and effective surgical treatment of BPH (Benign Prostate Hyperplasia) is Transurethral Resection of the Prostate (TURP), the TURP surgery removes the defected piece of the prostate gland.
