Septic Tanks Guide

About Septic tanks are an essential element of a septic system, which is used to treat sewage in areas where a connection to the mains sewage pipes isn’t available. There are two main shapes of septic tank available, spherical and cylindrical. A septic tank consists of a two or three chamber system that retains sewage from the connected property giving solids sufficient time to form sludge at the base of the tank, this is partially broken down through anaerobic digestion. Any remaining liquid in the tank overflows from the tank by means of an outlet pipe to a drainage channel.

Clearwater Septic Tanks Clearwater units are available a range of shapes and sizes suitable for all domestic applications. They are designed to meet both the installation requirements and the standards of discharge specified by BS 6297: 1983. The septic tanks in the range all achieve a high degree of settlement, producing a quality of effluent for discharge to a land drainage system.

Clearwater Spherical Septic Tanks

Spherical septic tanks from Clearwater are available in capacities ranging from 2800 litres (4 person) to 4600 litres (14 person). They are designed to meet both the installation requirements and the standard of discharge specified by BS 6297:1983. Tanks are supplied with a pedestrian duty chamber lid and frame as standard. Clearwater Cylindrical Septic Tanks

The Clearwater Sigma shallow dig septic tank, has been designed to drastically reduce the time it takes to install and the cost of the associated work. The design halves the depth of the installation required, making it easier to install in areas where the conventional spherical tanks won’t fit. With the increase in the development of properties and the new locations being developed all the time, it is more common to need shallow septic tanks. This is often the situation when developing on granite rock beds or where there is a high water table and there is a need to have your soak away as high as possible. Clearwater Shallow Dig Septic Tanks are available in capacities ranging from 2800 litres (5 person) to 9150 litres (47 person).
