Unemployment has finally hit this family. She is a single mother of two beautiful young school age girls. She's hard working and has actively been in search of employment since she lost her job over six months ago. Through savings and temporary jobs here and there and help from family members she has been able to keep a roof over her family's head. But she's fallen behind with her rent and is in urgent need of $1,500. She wants to keep her children stable and would absolutely love to avoid eviction because she knows that will affect how the children perform in school. Could you please put out a word on your widely read weekly publication to see if there are people out there who are willing to help keep this mother and her children stable by keeping the roof over their head. Family of Four Needs Van- Father Disabled Request from Pastor Brian Truog, Cross Lutheran Church, Yorkville, Illinois Through our community outreach program we have come in contact with a family in need from Plano, Illinois. This is a family of four. The husband is disabled due to cerebral palsy and unable to work. The wife works parttime in a doctors' office. Their eldest son goes to Wabaunsee Community College and the youngest son is in elementary school. The vehicle they have now is in poor condition - probably unsafe to drive - and has no heat. A vehicle is important to them because every few months they have to drive to the hospital in Chicago for the husband's doctors appointments. The wife would like to go to school and be certified in the medical field, but is unable to afford that. It would probably be best for them to have a van, but I don't think that is absolutely necessary. The donation of a reliable van would be such a blessing to this family. Please contact LCC at 866-455-6466 or email LCC@LutheranChurchCharities.org if you have a vehicle to donate.

Church Organist Needs Car Request from Vacancy Pastor Jim Bauman, Faith Lutheran Church, Carpentersville, Illinois The organist of Faith, Carpentersville, who is a single mother with a daughter that has ongoing and severe medical problems, is in need of an automobile. Her present car is in need of repairs too expensive to consider. At present the organist is unable to come to church for services because of lack of transportation. Playing at our church is an important part of a very small total income. Please contact LCC at 866-455-6466 or email LCC@LutheranChurchCharities.org if you have a vehicle to donate.

LCC Donated Van Helps Pastor in Crisis - $650 Still Needed Request for Pastor John Brazeal, Lutheran Church of Christ The King, Chicago Pastor Brazeal stopped at a gas station to fill his van. While standing at the window to pay he watched a car pull in, try to make a tight turn and then plow into his van. Three teenage girls jumped out of the car and ran away. Pastor Brazeal's van had been totaled by girls out joy riding in a stolen car! If he had been pumping gas at the time he would have been seriously injured and possibly killed. Because the car was stolen at the time of the accident there is no insurance settlement. But God provides. LCC has received the donation of a van from a member family of Cross Lutheran in Yorkville. The van is in good shape but needs some work on the brakes and a few other repairs. The cost of the needed repairs is $650.00. Because there is no insurance money available for Pastor Brazeal please consider a donation to put him back on the road serving his congregation and community. Click here to donate

Homeless Single Mother and Son Need Assistance Request from Pastor Scott Christenson, Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Palatine, Illinois and PATH (Palatine Assisting Through Hope) Prince of Peace and PATH are working with a single mother who has recently fallen on hard times and become homeless. She lost her job, ultimately could not afford rent and was evicted. She has also lost her car. All of her saving and 401K monies from her former job have been spent on temporary housing. Without additional assistance she and her son will be homeless again within a week. She and her son need a place to live until a more permanent solution is found. Anywhere between Palatine and Vernon Hills is ideal. Her son is an advanced straight A student at Vernon Hills High School but may be transferring depending on assistance. She is also in need of monetary assistance to help them get into permanent housing as she continues to look for work. She and her son are attending services at Prince of Peace and both Prince of Peace and PATH are offering her all the assistance they can. Any additional financial or housing assistance will be a blessing to this family as they struggle to put their lives back together. If you know of temporary housing for this family please contact LCC at 866-455-6466 or email LCC@LutheranChurchCharities.org Click here to donate

Minister to the Missionaries in West Africa Northern Illinois District President Dan Gilbert and his wife Jan have been asked to lead a retreat for the LCMS and Lutheran Bible Translators missionaries in West Africa this coming March. God willing, they will do six days of worship, Bible study, and counseling with the missionaries and their families at a Christian retreat center in Lamina, Ghana, a few hours west of the capital city of Accra. President Gilbert also hopes to meet with President Paul Fynn of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ghana while there. The cost for their airfare needs to be covered. Round trip for the two of them comes to a total of $2,757, and they request that brothers and sisters prayerfully consider an offering to help cover this cost. Click here to contribute

Single Mother of Five in Need of Reliable Transportation Request from Linda Arnold, Director of Care Ministries, Trinity Lutheran Church, Lisle, Illinois We have a single mother of five in need of a vehicle. She lost her job two months ago. She currently is driving an old van with 140K miles on it. We've helped her by repairing some problems that prevented it from passing emissions testing but she really needs something more reliable rather than continuing to spend money to fix what she has. She also needs to be able to transport six people. If she could receive a donated van that would be such a blessing for this family. Please contact LCC at 866-455-6466 or email LCC@LutheranChurchCharities.org if you have a vehicle to donate.

Please join us in praying for everyone touched by the shooting incident at Fort Hood Army Base on Thursday, November 5, 2009. We are currently monitoring the situation closely to determine how we can best respond with our LCC Parish K-9 Comfort Dog teams. Funds are needed for travel and lodging of the handlers and LCC Comfort Dogs and to support the Armed Services families. Supplemental Funding is provided through the Texas Regions速 program of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. They will match $1 for every $3 raised, up to $1,500. Please consider helping us to bring the Mercy and Compassion of Jesus Christ to those in our armed services affected by this tragedy. Dollar per Dollar your donation will go to this response. Can You Help LCC Find Free Warehouse Storage For Our Ongoing Ministry? In order to be able to respond to disasters swiftly, it is imperative that we operate in a state of preparedness. To be able to do that, it is important that we have our vehicles and equipment stored in a location and environment that will enable us to move quickly. For the other parts of our ministry, we need: ●

● ●

Work space for our volunteers that is a climate controlled environment Has short term storage space for donations till they can be picked up in a few days. A space large enough where we can drive in and store our Disaster response RV and trailers for immediate DEPLOYMENT. A cargo bay allowing us the ability to load semi-trailers would also be nice and useful feature.

If you know of someone who owns or has available warehouse space that isn't being currently used, please contact Tim Hetzner at Lutheran Church Charities. We understand that use of the warehouse would not be permanent and that the owner would have the full rights to regain their facility if it was to be rented or sold. LCC would carry the insurance on the space we are using. Please contact Tim Hetzner, President of LCC at (866) 455-6466 if you know of someone. This would be a tremendous Help in meeting the increased demands LCC faces. Help us to continue to - by the Grace of God - Make A Difference in People's Lives and in God's Kingdom!

Christmas Concert at St. John's La Grange Sunday, December 13, 2009 at 6:30 PM St. John Lutheran Church 47th Street & Brainard Ave. La Grange, Illinois 60525 "These are the Days..." is the theme of the annual Christmas Concert presented by St. John's Lutheran Church and School, 505 S. Park Rd. La Grange, IL 60525 on Sunday, December 13th at 6:30 pm. Under the direction of Mr. David Christian, this evening of music will feature St. John's adult and children's choirs and ensembles, orchestra and two handbell choirs. St. John's is delighted this year to also feature guest organist, Michael Wolniakowski, master organist and teacher at Lyons Township High School in the choral music department. The music performed at this year's concert will expand various time periods and styles, reiterating the timeless yet prevailing significance of the birth of Jesus. Familiar music and carols which have been a part of our Christmas tradition for generations will be heard. Yet, as the theme suggests, embodied in the evening's repertoire will be the compelling message that the hope of Christmas is for "these days," leaving the audience with forward thrusting joy and peace to last beyond the holiday season.

Christmas Concert at First Saint Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chicago Sunday, December 13, 2009 3:30 and 7 PM First Saint Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church 1301 N. Other works include Gustav Holst's stirring setting of "Let All Mortal Flesh" as well as a new carol, "Welcome, Precious Infant Lord," composed by Carl Schalk, with text by David Rogner.
