on the Maritza Ramirez-Cruz Family
Last week LCC launched a fund to help the family of Maritza Ramirez-Cruz who was brutally murdered in her hometown of Milwaukee, Wisconsin along with the fetus that was cut from her womb. A special request from Krista Parker nee Mayyou came to LCC as Maritza's daughter is a preschooler at St. Martini School where Krista teaches. Your response has been overwhelming and generous. On Monday LCC staff member Rich Martin delivered the first check to St. Martini for the Ramirez-Cruz family during a special memorial service. Funds continue to come in and will be transferred to St. Martini's as they do. We are pleased to report that an anonymous donor outside of LCC provided funds for the family to travel with the bodies of Maritza and the baby to Puerto Rico where they were buried this week. This means that all money donated through LCC will go directly for the support of living expenses and extraordinary costs the family incurs. Thank you for sharing the compassion and mercy of Christ with this family in such a difficult time. The fund LCC has established sees that all donations go dollar for dollar to St. Martini to help the family during this most difficult time. Click here to donate and thank you for sharing the mercy and compassion of Christ with Maritza's family. VIDEO: ABC 12 WISN - Your donations at work Making a Difference for this family

Van Needed for Jesendys Hygiene Ministry LCC received a request for a minivan from Darlene Havard (pictured), Founder of Jesendys Hygiene Ministry Compassionately Providing Essentials, sponsored by Immanuel Lutheran Church in Downers Grove. Darlene is currently without reliable transportation and needs a vehicle to pick up the thousands of products that are donated to Jesendys Hygiene Ministry. The ministry secures donations of hygiene products that they then pack into hygiene kits for PAD's, homeless shelters and disaster sites. They need a reliable minivan or SUV to make the pick-ups. Faith Lutheran Church, Mobile, Alabama
One of the Churches the NID was assigned to help when Katrina hit five years ago. Help them reach those in need in their community this Thanksgiving. Again this year the Evangelism Committee at Faith Lutheran Church, Mobile is attempting to serve the needs within our own congregation and the local community, especially at this time of the year and at this critical time in our economy. We are so thankful for your past support for this project and give all the Glory and Praise to God. We are in the process of soliciting funding for our annual Thanksgiving Baskets for the needy and are seeking your help. We are planning to construct six baskets and anticipate the cost of each basket to be about $50.00. To God be the Glory that this project will be a success again this year and will bless each recipient of these baskets with a meal for Thanksgiving that they otherwise may not have had. We do all of this in the name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We thank God for any considerations that you may give to this request and may God continue to bless you and your effort to provide assistance to all of the needed. Request from Pastor Dan Hawkins, New Song Lutheran Church, Aurora I have a special need for a car for a young man in our congregation who is working but struggling. He is a member and one of our readers for our contemporary service. He is currently working at a part time job and looking for full time work. His only means of transportation to work at present is a mo-ped. A car would greatly increase his opportunities for employment. If you are able to assist, the family would be truly grateful. If you have a vehicle to donate please call LCC at 866455-6466 or email LCC@LutheranChurchCharities.org

Life is full of reasons to celebrate. As Christians we have the best reason of all-Christ has Risen...for us! In this session Dr. Rich Bimler will encourage us to celebrate life in the Lord every day because after the UH-OH's there is always the AHHA's of Easter!

Martin Luther School Principal Jeremy Schamber Reports Latest from Joplin
Two people I've met recently are emblematic of the ongoing recovery in Joplin. Kevin was at the edge of the storm and his house was heavily damaged but not destroyed. He has neighbors still living with him who lost everything. Emily lost her home completely and what's left must be torn down. Her husband took the insurance check and left for California without her. She's now left to rebuild her life on her own. Although these are very tragic situations for both Kevin and Emily, it has given Pastor Mech and me the awesome opportunity to minister to His children. Thank you for your compassion and mercy in bringing the Presence of Jesus Christ to them in their time of need. Ministry Needs Help Make A Difference English New Testaments Needed for Salam Outreach to Students
Request from Pastor Hicham Chehab, Salam Arabic Fellowship, Missionary, POBLO- Chicago
Salam Arabic Fellowship needs paperback English copies of the New Testament for the student ministry at College of Dupage and Morraine Valley Community College. NIV, or other modern translations are preferable. Our student ministry has given out more than 300 copies of the Bible to college students over the past four years, not to mention tracts and Christian books. God's Word sows seeds of faith in the hearts of people and would never return empty! At this time we are looking to give away copies of the New Testament only. We have found that to be the most effective outreach to the students. If you have copies of the New Testament to donate contact LCC at 866-455-6466 or email LCC@LutheranChurchCharities.org Click here to donate for the purchase of New Testaments

Help Fund Eagle Scout Project to Benefit St. Matthew Chicago
Request from Pastor Doug Swanson, St. John Lutheran Church, Darien, Illinois
A member of our congregation, Dan Greg (pictured), is a Life Rank Boy Scout with Troop 101 out of Darien. Dan's father, Mark, has been involved with repair work at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in the Pilsen neighborhood in Chicago for the past several years. Dan would like to do his Eagle Scout project at St. Matthew. He wants to "enhance the appearance of the community center to help enrich the community and those who wish to walk through those doors." Pastor Julio Loza has approved the work subject to Dan obtaining funding for the project. The cost for the materials will be about $1,250.00. This is a great Eagle Scout project that will benefit a sister congregation in Chicago that serves the poor and homeless in their community. Any assistance will be a blessing for St. Matthew. Pastor in Need of Van for Outreach Ministry in Chicago
Request from Pastor Samuel Shin, Tabor Lutheran Church, Chicago
I am a Lutheran pastor in Chicago serving at Tabor Lutheran Church, focusing on the ethnic outreach ministry. I need a van to be able to pick up and drop off people as part of our outreach to the community. I do not have a personal car that I can use. If you have a van that you can donate to this ministry it would be a real blessing to this community. Thank you and God's blessing to you! Cargo Van or Pick-up Truck Needed for Food Pantry at Zion Lutheran Church, Chicago Request from Pastor Stephane Kalonji, Zion Lutheran Church, Chicago
Since its opening in June, Zion Lutheran Church's Food Pantry has been serving individuals and families with food bags every Thursday, from 4:00p.m to 6:00p.m. and any day and time in case of emergency. Each week the number of those coming to receive food has been growing. Zion's members have contributed their vehicles for the food pick up from the Greater Chicago Food Depository, but we are no longer able to pick up all the food boxes due to the limited transportation available. We therefore need help with a Cargo Van or Pick-up truck for the food pantry. And since more and more food items are being sold (at a discounted price) by the Greater Chicago Food Depository, we're asking for financial assistance so we can purchase the food items that our clients greatly need. Thank you for your help! If you have a vehicle to donate please contact LCC at 866-455-6466 or email LCC@LutheranChurchCharities.org Click here to donate to support Zion's food pantry

International Ministry Scholarship a Child in Myanmar
Because of your Donations Two of 10 Students have Received Scholarships
Strict regulations in Myanmar (formerly Burma) make it difficult for children to advance to a University education. Without specialized schooling outside of the inadequate public school system most poor children never get the chance for higher education which can lift their family out of poverty. The National Lutheran Church of Myanmar is trying to change this and needs your help to sponsor children in the 11th grade (the final step prior to University). Because of your generous donations two children have already received scholarships. LCC received the following email from Rev. Charles Edwards: Greetings from Myanmar. In our church there are many students but in grade 11 (entrance control by the government directly) there are 10 students. They are very clever but they are from the very poorest families. Their parents can not support them due to their poverty. Our church is trying to give scholarships but we are also facing and struggling for finical difficulties. Two months ago Lutheran Church Charities(LCC) gave scholarship to 2 students and they are now studying hard. Our church decided to send a prayer request to all our connections. Please pray for them. Our church believes that through your faithful prayers God will certainly help them in wonderful ways. Again, please pray for them. Blessings. Rev. Charles Edwards, Pastor Click here if you would like to make a donation to help one of these young students
Excitement for a Latrine in Haiti - Puts things here in the US in perspective
Update: Because of your generous donations another latrine is under construction in Thomonde Haiti.
LCMS World Relief and Human Care, along with Lutheran Church Charities, are trying to put a latrine and water filter system in each of our 82 Lutheran Schools in Haiti. Our first latrine has been completed and dedicated! It is touching to see such excitement in having a latrine! To dedicate it! It puts our situation in the US with our economic worries in perspective. Imagine not having any washroom facilities, which is the case for each of our Lutheran Schools in Haiti! To see their excitement to have a latrine! We will continue to build these for each of the schools as money comes in! Consider Making a Difference to a Lutheran School by providing a latrine! Only $500 to build. A water filter is only $185. Thank you to those who have donated so far to make this exciting event happen LCC received the following email from Laurent Lophane in Haiti along with pictures of the new latrine: "Peace and Grace to you from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I went this morning at Colminy where I inaugurated the latrine. The committee of the church and the school were happy for this big gift, you know this latrine is the first one in this area. I want to thank each of you in their name, those people were really in need, may God bless you and your ministry and your activities also." Sewing Machines Needed to Train Pastor Isaac's Orphans in Haiti so they can Work and Support Themselves! Request From Sue Gross, Haiti Lutheran Mission Project
On our last visit to Haiti we became aware that some of the Orphans we still remember as small children are growing quickly. Some of them will soon be out on their own trying to make a living and supporting their own families. We are concerned that even though they have an education, jobs are in very short supply and it will be difficult for them to survive. Next summer we hope to restart sewing classes so that those ready to leave the orphanage will be able to support themselves by making items that we will bring back to the States to sell. For this project to start we are asking for donations of portable sewing machines. We can send these machines on the bus when we ship it and it will not cost any extra freight. Please consider dusting off that machine you no longer use and donating it to those who will put it to good use. If you have a machine to donate please contact LCC at 866-455-6466 or email LCC@LutheranChurchCharities.org Click here to donate for the purchase of a sewing machine
LCC to Furnish Guest House in Haiti Last October work began on the Guest House in Jacmel, Haiti. Part of the Building Homes and Hope in Haiti project, which partners LCMS World Relief and Human Care and Lutheran Church Charities, the Guest House will be used to house mission groups working in the area. The walls are up and the interior work has begun. Many items are still needed before the Guest House opens this fall so we are having a "Guest House Shower". If you or your group would like to be a part of the "shower" and help furnish the Guest House you can make a donation for any item(s) on the list. LCC will arrange for all donations, Dollar per Dollar, to be sent to Haiti to purchase the items. This is a great opportunity for individuals, congregations, mission teams or organizations to be part of a project that will have a lasting impact in Haiti. Thank you to Jackie Rychel and the Ohio District for all their work overseeing the construction and furnishing of the guest house. If you have any questions regarding items on the list, please email Jackie Rychel at jrychel@gmail.com. Click here to read the list of items Click here to donate to furnish the guest house in Haiti

Leadership Is Dead by: Jeremie Kubicek Leadership is Dead: How Influence is Reviving It, a new book by Jeremie Kubicek, explains how to become truly influential by overcoming the desire for self-preservation, a tendency that sabotages many leaders today. It's not that leadership itself is dead, it's the way in which many choose to lead that is. It's all about influence. The more you understand it, the better you'll be able to utilize it and maximize it for success. That's what this book is about. Teaching you how to expand your influence, be significant and make a greater
impact. But be warned... Leadership is Dead isn't just about you. It's also about them (those you lead) and how you can equip, inspire and lead them in a way that can very well change the world.
Consider Joining Tim Hetzner on a Superb Advent Germany Tour! Several Spots Open as of Today! CHRISTKINDL MARKETS trip to the Czech Republic, Germany and Austria, November 27 to December 5, 2011
December is the time for the Christkindl Markets (Advent Markets) in the Czech Republic, Germany and Austria, a tradition that dates back hundreds of years. Literally translated, the street fairs are Christ-child markets. They happen in nearly every city and village, large and small. They are always cause for celebration and for shopping, for some roasted sausage, music on the streets and the insides of centuries-old churches, and, of course, some hot, spiced wine. Let this be an invitation to focus on Advent and the Coming of Christ in bringing in the Christmas Season. LCC Emergency Assistance Fund LCC gets requests daily concerning people who need assistance, and it is increasing because of the current economic times we are living in. LCC works through our churches to provide assistance by making the need known - and dollar per dollar we give the money to a church to help the family or individual. However, we receive some requests that are emergencies, and money is needed that day or the next day and we can't always get the need out in our weekly email newsletter first. Would you consider making a gift to our LCC Emergency Assistance fund so that when these emergency needs occur we can help (through our churches) quicker? This is an important way for the Body of Christ to share the Mercy and Compassion and Proclamation of Christ. To contribute please click here Thank you for continuing to Make A Difference!
