Note from the Editor... Dear Neighbours, Welcome to the March/April issue of The Edenbridge Magazine. 2019 is really moving at full steam and I really can't believe springtime is nearly upon us. As always there has been much going on in and around Edenbridge and I really am pleased to be living in such a vibrant community. Yet again I have attended another excellent event at the Edenbridge WI Hall - this time for the Forge Singers annual pantomime which was 'The Adventures of Robin Hood'. You can read more about it on page 30, with pictures as well. I took my partner Joe along to the show and we had a super time, enjoying not just the performance but getting lucky on the raffle as well and I went home with a cuddly toy! Regular readers may remember that I'm an active member of the Eden Valley Chamber of Commerce and I'm delighted to announce that chamber members are working on a relaunch of the Eden Valley Loyalty Card which will take place on Thursday 4th April at various businesses around the High Street from 10am to coincide with the Thursday Market. The scheme rewards shoppers who shop at the participating retailers in and around the area. You can find out more about the scheme on page 34 of this issue. January Networking event I have been a member of the local chamber for 14 years this at Hever Hotel
year and I have found it very valuable as a local business owner to be part of such an organisation. The members range from sole traders who work from their homes to high street retailers and the larger businesses who operate from our industrial estates. I'm also involved in organising the networking events which give local business owners the opportunity to meet others who operate in and around the
area. The Chamber are also organising a Spring Casino Evening which will be held at Hever Hotel on Friday 15th March 2019 and the event is open to EVERYONE, not just local businesses but residents too. If you'd like the opportunity to put your glad rags on for an evening then please do come along. Tickets are £30.00 each which will include food and it is set to be a fun evening for all. As I'm nearing the end of my page, I'd like to remind you of all the superb facilities we do have in town. One of my favourite places to visit in the high street is the Eden Valley Museum and they have an excellent guest exhibition by Dave King on 'Predicting the Weather'. I always meet many locals who have not yet visited the museum so I would like to recommend that if you haven't done it yet, go along and learn about the history of our area - you might be quite surprised. The Tea Room and Gift Shop Sit inside or outside in our sheltered courtyard and enjoy a light lunch or cream tea served at your table on vintage china. The Gift Shop is located in the old well tower and sells local produce, gifts, antiques, and second hand books.
The Historic House Chiddingstone Castle was the Tudor-period family home of the Streatfeild family. In the 19th century, the family had their home transformed into a castle. Many decades later, it was the same dream of living in a castle that inspired the art collector Denys Eyre Bower to move in.

The Collections Highlights of the fascinating collections of Denys Eyre Bower are on display throughout the Castle, which was his home from 1955 to 1977. The Grounds and Village Sitting in 35 acre grounds, the Castle has farreaching views of the North Downs. Explore an Ancient Egyptian-inspired grass maze, an avenue of Japanese cherry blossom trees, a Victorian Orangery, and the lake which can be fished all year round.

Forge Singers in The Pantomime Adventures of Robin Hood Last month I enjoyed what I think is the best pantomime yet by Edenbridge's local Amateur Dramatics group The Forge Singers. The production which was produced and directed by Darren Thomas and Caroline Newman, made fantastic use of the upgraded facilities at the Edenbridge WI Hall and featured not only excellent and entertaining stage performances by the cast, but video footage played onto the stage wall and the sound quality from the stage microphones was very much improved. I want to take this opportunity to give a huge congratulations to everyone involved in the production, not just the super cast (and I must say a massive well done to Georgia Simpson who stepped in as Lady Marion for the final performance), but also the front of house and backstage crews who did a sterling job. There was a large contingent of young Forge Singers in this performance and I look forward to watching them grow and develop their performing skills on stage at future performances. Put a date in your diaries now for their next production which will be from 6-8 June 2019.

Stangrove Court Dental Practice Aesthetic Treatments in Edenbridge In the last issue we introduced the new management team, Principals Dr Brijal Patel BDS and Dr Dipen Patel BDS MJDF (FGDP(UK)) who recently took over Stangrove Court Dental Practice which has been established for over 40 years. We also covered the wide range of dental treatments available, including general and cosmetic dentistry. The other range of services available at Stangrove Court are aesthetic treatments to treat wrinkles, such as Botox and Dermal Fillers. The benefit of having such treatments performed by your dentist is that they have thorough knowledge and understanding of the facial anatomy. These anti-wrinkle treatments will help reduce the lines on your face without you having to resort to surgical procedures and can be done from their practice on Stangrove Road.
ANTI-WRINKLE TREATMENTS The injection of botulinum toxin relaxes the tiny facial muscles by blocking the nerve impulses and reducing the visibility of 'expression lines' on the face. The areas on the face which can be treated in this way include: frown lines eyebrows crow's feet forehead lines lines around the mouth and top lip Although the effects will not be permanent, you can repeat the procedure every 3 months
to maintain a more youthful appearance. The procedure can also be used to treat severe or excess sweating and also help with teeth grinding issues.
DERMAL FILLERS Another way of visibly reducing the appearance of wrinkles and lines is by injecting Dermal Fillers into the skin. This treatment involves the injection of sterile hyaluronic acid gels made from non-animal sources into the skin, plumping up the facial lines and wrinkles resulting in a smoother, more youthful look. As we age, our own hyaluronic acid is lost. These fillers can also be used for lip enhancement and for shaping facial, hand and neck contours. Consultations for these treatments are free and Dr Dipen Patel will be able to provide you with more information on which would be the best solution for you.
