International Women’s Day

Lambton County Library celebrates International Women’s Day (IWD) annually. This year, in partnership with the Famous 5 Foundation - Sarnia Lambton Committee, and the Judith and Norman Alix Art Gallery, Sarnia Library will be displaying the Famous Five Maquette sculpture during IWD events. This sculpture is a miniature of the Women Are Persons! monument in Olympic Plaza, Calgary and on Plaza Bridge near the Senate of Canada, Ottawa.

The sculpture features Nellie McClung, Emily Murphy, Louise McKinney, Irene Parlby, and Henrietta (Muir) Edwards. It has been travelling throughout Canada and will be available for viewing during IWD events happening at Sarnia Library as well as 15 minutes before and after, in the theatre lobby. More information about IWD events being hosted by Lambton County Library can be found on page six. Lambton County Library’s IWD programs will celebrate and encourage patrons to learn about the women of Lambton County, both past and present, who have helped lead and shape our community.
