Kylie Minogue The Princess of Pop
A
At this stage of her career, Kylie Minogue felt that she had paid her debt to the critics and to those who considered her as only a product of the record label. The comparison between Kylie and Madonna also became increasingly frequent. At times even Kylie affirmed, “Madonna is the Queen of Pop, I’m the Princess. I’m pretty happy with that,” to settled the discussion. Kylie Minogue’s image as a pop icon has prevailed over all other female artists of her time based on their validity and universal popularity. Bert Stern, photographer known for his work with Marilyn Monroe, said Minogue has a similar mixture of vulnerability and eroticism. These characteristics have been featured on the front cover of the world’s most prestigious magazines. In aboriginal language, Kylie signifies a boomerang. Perhaps this detail is the key to why the artist, who has always fought to prevail, can leave and return in her career. Minogue has reinvented her art and style many times. The vocal range shown on her records and her changing image is powered by a woman who knows how to reinvent herself. By far the biggest test Kylie Minogue had to overcome was when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005. The impact of this news and the need for urgent treatment forced her to postpone her tours and appearances in order to receive the surgery and chemotherapy that was needed. Once again, Kylie had to reinvent herself. She wrote her children’s book, “A Princess On Stage,” during her recovery, and created her perfume, “Darling” as the answer to her difficult situation. After her recovery, Kylie renewed her support for charitable causes and the research for the fight against cancer. Her cause raised great

awareness for thousands of women on the importance of preventative health checks, to the extent that a French minister described this phenomenon as the “Kylie Effect”. Just as her career, Kylie Minogue’s love life has also been intense. Jason Donovan, Lenny Kravitz, a former member of INXS and Michael Hutchence have been recognized as some of her sentimental relationships. Today she recognizes that she is at a very different stage of her life compared to those intense years when her pursuit of success forced her to end her tour. It was in the recording of a perfume commercial where she met her boyfriend, Andrés Velencoso, a model 10 years younger than her from Tossa de Mar, Girona. Though all is well, the Australian has ruled out a wedding as an option for the near future, but she has admitted that at this moment in her life she is full of happiness. “Aphrodite” is the title of Kylie Minogue’s latest work, where the Australian singer has matured and is full of energy. The “Kylie” stamp can be discovered in each theme. Jean Paul Gaultier, designer and friend, styled the singer for her album cover released in the middle of 2010. While decorating her new mansion she purchased in London to live with her boyfriend, Kylie Minogue prepares for her tour “Les Folies”, a world tour that will be in Spain. It will be an opportunity to appreciate the art of a woman who has avoided repetition and constantly reinvented her brand. Just as tenacious as when she begged her parents to let her become an artist, the Australian singer has left and returned, like a boomerang, named Kylie Minogue.

story that has never been confirmed says that a young girl insisted her parents to take her to casting calls to be an actress or singer. Her early persistence put stress on the harmonious marriage between her parents, an Australian accountant and a Welsh dancer. This story was located in Surrey Hills, a suburb of Victoria, Australia, and the star was known as girl named Kylie Minogue. The “artistic gene” was not lacking in the Minogue family with a mother who danced and a daughter who had aspirations of becoming an actress and singer. Kylie’s siblings also showed an artistic desire, as her brother Brendan became a television cameraman and her sister Danielle aspired to be an actress and singer just like Kylie. With much insistence, Kylie was casted in her first roll when she was eleven. Six years later, Kylie became one of the most popular actresses in Australia when her show, “Neighbours”, became the most popular series in the country. To promote a charity event, Kylie recorded a single that gained much success and caught the attention of record companies. In 1988, the girl who dreamt of becoming an artist launched her first album, “Kylie”. “Especially For You”, a duet recorded with Jason Donovan, was her next success. It was her first single to sell over a million copies in the United Kingdom. Kylie Minogue’s career was beginning to become serious. Her album in 1994, “Kylie Minogue”, was the first album where the Australian composed her own music. However the explosion arrived in 2001, with her album “Fever”. Her song “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” was heard worldwide and hit number one on the billboard charts in over 20 countries.
