The Regent (332-042) is a home with no dark corners. A skylight brightens any room that isn’t rich in window glass. And the designers went all out in the family living area. In addition to skylights, sources of natural light here include a garden window, an octagonal eating bay, and sliding glass doors to the deck. Placement of the kitchen sink, at the end of a long work island, allows members of the clean-up crew to face into the family room, nook, or look through the garden window with only a slight turn of the head. The front of the home is more formal, starting with the brick columns that flank the arched entrance. Off site recreational vehicle parking won’t be necessary with the Starling (332-280). The plan includes an RV parking pad next to the garage. The Starling is designed for construction on land that slopes down at the back. But the lot doesn’t have to be huge, because this compact two-story home is only 47 feet deep and 40 feet wide, if you don’t count the deck.

Sliding glass doors in the family room open onto a covered patio, and all three rooms have large windows. But some families might feel an eating bar is unnecessary here, since the skylit nook is such a bright and cheerful eating space. The kitchen is designed for efficiency, with the sink, cooktop and refrigerator located in a, tight triangle. A powder room is close to the kitchen, and not far from the front door. It is also just a few steps from the pass-through utility room, which connects the house to the garage. The utility room has a small counter for folding clothes, and plenty of overhead cabinets. Sometimes finding the ideal home for a sloping lot is difficult. The Magnolia (500-26) has five full bedrooms and one of the bedrooms could actually be used as an in-law suite if needed. The home is very contemporary looking but it is not plain. It has rock cornices on the corners in the front, and decorative fascia on the roofline. In the rear, the covered deck on the first level is also a covered patio on the basement level. Crossing the covered stoop brings one into the Magnolia’s front door. On the left side is a coffer vaulted formal dining

area. The room is bathed in light from the huge window in the front. The dining area is open to the living room in the rear, which is also vaulted. Big windows across the back of the living room and the nook again bring the sunlight inside. A “C” shaped counter space open to the living room by a half wall is ideal when entertaining. It makes an area easy to set food for a buffet. Along the left wall is the range/oven, refrigerator, a pantry, and, behind a pocket door, the utility room with a door to the two-car garage.

Off the nook is the door to the master suite. This room is large and open with the enormous walk-in closet and master bath. The toilet is a private area with its own window. The oversized tub has a “his and her” sink on each side and a large shower in the corner. Across the home are the other two bedrooms that are upstairs. One room has a wall closet and a built-in desk while the other room has a larger walk-in closet. Situated between them is a full bath with a tub and dual sinks. Across the hall is large linen closet and a small niche for collectibles. The stairs to the basement are right there also. Downstairs contains an optional bedroom 5 as well as a family room and the guest suite/in-law suite. Bedroom 5 has a long wall closet and a window that overlooks the backyard. The family room has windows and a patio door that opens onto the covered patio in the rear.
