Dr. Eric Stallknecht – Greenhouse Production Specialist at Hampton Roads Agricultural Research and Extension Center

Dr. Eric Stallknecht started his faculty position at Virginia Tech’s Hampton Roads Agricultural Research and Extension Center in Virginia Beach on August 10, 2023. The emphasis for this position will be the commercial greenhouse industry in Virginia, conducting research benefiting producers and disseminating those results through a state-wide extension program.

Dr. Stallnecht received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Horticulture from the University of Georgia and his Doctorate in Horticulture from Michigan State University. His Master’s degree focused on flower promotion of herbaceous ornamentals and controlled environment agriculture, and his Ph.D. research focused on greenhouse crop growth and development under photovoltaic and spectral-shifting greenhouse glazing.
