This newsletter is a combination of the first two weeks of the fall session. Walter had a hard drive failure right after he printed score sheets for week 1 and has been recovering since. For this newsletter only we will have quick and dirty summaries for your matches instead of the usual format.

Mike is working on Wednesdays for two more weeks and will have to make up the match. Table 6 was schedule to be a bye week for #19 Mike Bates. Table 8 hosted #6 Ray Ressler vs #13 Jim Pellerito. They did not play on league night. They made up their match on Monday the 30th. I don’t have the details just yet but know that Ray won the Match 15-5. Worn out from too much work? Relax and have some fun playing league 27. Put life on hold for a few hours.
This session has been a character builder to say the least! I have redone the schedule 4 or 5 times. The first time was before week 1 when we had “20” players. League night only 18 players showed up. I redid the schedule. Then I receive a call from Joe Lopiccola wanting to join. “No problem”, I said. I redid the schedule again. The very next day I received a call from Vince Contrera asking if there was time to join. I said, “Sure there is, I just added Joe. Adding you would eliminate the Bye week.” The day after Week 2 Vince calls me up and says, “Walt, I never commit to something and back out. But, I have to drop out of the league. I am truly sorry.” After a few hours of thinking about things I gave Ron Price a call to see if he was still interested in joining the league. He said he was. We now have 20 players again. This leaves us in an unusual place because Ron is new I don’t want to subject him to the hardship of trying to play two make up games. I have decided in the interest of time to grant the two players he would have played [Mike Bates and Joe Lopiccola] 15 points each as if they were forfeited matches. I am also granting Ron 10 points total or 5 points per match to get him started. We will move forward from here.
