CONCEPT
The new intervention for The Gibside Stables, aims to create a small community in order to attract people of all ages to a craft and athletic environment. The center provides services such as pottery making , Blacksmith, woodworking, horse riding, wall climbing, hiking and exploring. It offers an intimate atmosphere with a restaurant providing local products a bar and on the second floor accommodation for schools and for families.

55 - 57 Westgate road situated in Newcastle upon Tyne is a place for people to come socialize, relax have an enjoyable time while still being able to experience many productive and entertaining activities that the building has to offer. Upon entering the building you are greeted by an elegant coffee shop, on the right hand side is a small retail space where you can view or purchase a plethora of items regarding plaster. On the first floor you experience a journey through the history of the building as well as an exhibition of plaster art. A studio is situated on the second floor where both artists and visitors can learn to create all type of plaster arts. There is also accommodation provided for students/artists living far away and want to visit for a few days.

Visitors will experience nature in an intimate way by observing the rare species of plants that will be around the pavilion and the Walled Garden. The pavilion is made out of marine plywood that can withstand damp and moist weather as well as warm and dry, it consists out of 22 pillars and 98 timber slabs that are inserted in between.
