10 Reasons Why a Lean Six Sigma Certification Will Benefit Your Career So What Are the Ten Benefits of Lean Six Sigma Certificate? When it comes to professional development, the world is changing so fast that identifying how you should be investing in yourself is very difficult. Should you be spending your time and money into learning excel or in a communication course? How about joining the 151,000 people who signed up to the Complete Digital Marketing Course on Udemy or the 234,000 who are interested in Ethical Hacking. Or perhaps you could join the 86 people (yes, eighty-six!) who signed up for the Complete PowerPoint 2016 Masterclass? What makes things a more significant challenge for professionals is that none of us wants to invest in a skill or a skillset that may disappear through automation, machine learning or AI as many of today’s roles will do. So it’s essential to have an idea of what firms will be looking for today and tomorrow. There are fundamental skills which are not changing. For example, the ability to learn new concepts fast is going to become more critical as we are all going to have to be continually learning and developing our skills throughout our careers. The ability to be good at problem-solving is also another meta-skill that we discuss in our free webinar. In 2016, the World Economic Forum surveyed over 350 executives across nine industries globally to begin to predict how technological advancement will transform the labour market. In September 2018, they updated the initial report The Future of Jobs with a focus on the next five year period between 2018-2022

If you want to be relevant and uplift your career earning’s you need to focus on meta skills such as the ability to be critical in your business thought processes and be continually on the outlook for ways to deliver more value to companies and customers. One of the vital meta-skills out there is the ability to problem-solve and how to be operationally excellent in everything you do. Problems will not go away, especially as change only accelerates. We will have to integrate not only new technology such as

AI, RPA (Robotic Process Automation), Blockchain into our businesses but also how we manage and organise our people to deliver maximum value. Underlying almost all the skills identified by the Future of Jobs report is the ability to deconstruct what business do today and find new ways of working, thinking and behaving: to deliver higher and higher “customer value”. So why Lean? Why Lean Six Sigma? Firstly, business today is competing in a “value creation economy”, and Lean is fundamentally about learning to create more value with less. Secondly, while MBA’s have been teaching for years that operational excellence is not enough, HBR research on opertaional excellence recently showed that best-in-class processes are both demanding and challenging to copy or imitate. Just think Amazon! Thirdly, HBR research also identified that there is a strong correlation between operational excellence and measures of strategic success. So businesses which ignore the impact of their processes on their results will find that brilliant leadership is no longer enough

1. Analytical Thinking and Innovation As part of the Fundamental to Lean Six Sigma workshop, there is a crucial focus on two key elements. From an analytical thinking point of view, lean and six sigma methodologies provide a toolbox to help break down complex problems into manageable components. This approach enables clear identification of root causes which lead to focused improvements resulting in improved business processes and performance. By covering the Lean Startup approach, the workshop equips professionals with the necessary skills to quickly test new products and services in a controlled and costeffective manner through fast learning loops by the Minimum Viable Product approach. 2. Critical thinking and analysis The DMAIC project management structure is a proven problem-solving approach and methodology. The methodology focuses on the core analysis and evaluation of data to identify the root cause(s) before jumping to any solution. The Lean approach teaches critical process analysis to help improve speed and quality. In over 90% of the cases, we have found that when something goes wrong, we

blame the people not the process. But if you have a well designed process, should things really go wrong? As part of our workshops, you receive mentoring and support to develop the critical thinking capabilities so you are able to apply it in real-world scenarios.

3. Complex problem-solving At the heart of Lean Six Sigma is to continually find better ways to create more customer value through continuous improvement. The only way to do this is through continuous problem-solving. One of the core benefits of Lean Six Sigma is a structured learning approach. It starts by developing the core Foundational Lean Six Sigma skills, called the Yellow Belt. This level of knowledge helps everyone to drive process improvements and attack day to day problems. The Fundamental Lean Six Sigma workshop focuses on more complex problems. We call this the Green Belt Level. At this level, professionals, like you, can deconstruct complex business problems finding faster, better and more cost-effective ways of working. At this stage, we are looking for solid business cases, precise project management skills and the ability to begin to influence key senior stakeholders. Lastly, the Advance Lean Six Sigma Workshops take the training to the ultimate level (Black Belt) where professionals (often referred to as change-agents) can run company-wide strategic projects delivering substantial improvements critical to the companies success.

4. Leadership and Social Influence As with any project management role, leading your team and managing stakeholders will be critical to your success. Lean is not just about tools and methods – the ability to manage change is vital, and a skill everyone needs to practise to learn. It is difficult and building your understanding of change management and team dynamics will help build your leadership capability and the influence you have on your team and the wider business.

5. Reasoning, problem-solving and ideation Combining Lean & Innovation is unique to LeanScape as we believe that the customer value creation is going to be the vital future differentiators across the business.
