ARTS CHRISTINE DUBOIS Christine has a degree in Communications from The U n i ve rsi t y o f Was h i ng to n and has received numerous awards from professional communications groups for excellence in writing and editing. In 2017 she received ‘The Best Instructor Award’ from North Seattle College’s Continuing Education department. She has successfully tackled writing projects of all types including articles, websites, ad copy, resumes, appeal letters, advertising copy, press releases, brochures, newsletters, curriculum, scripts, reports and publicity campaigns.

Dazzling Drafts: Fiction Works in Progress Hone your story ideas and refine your writing skills in this handson class for fiction writers. Attendees will get support during the writing process and learn how to give and receive helpful feedback, plus have class time to work on specific problem areas. In-class assignments will help strengthen scenes and better develop characters, helping writers move forward on their draft. Class will also cover basic fiction techniques and rewriting/editing tips. Designed as an open forum to improve works-in-progress and ask questions about writing and publication. Introduction to Drawing Learn the basic techniques of drawing while working from still life, places in our immediate environment and each other in this introductory drawing class. We will focus on the building blocks of drawing such as composition, measurement, line, shape, value, gesture and mark. Become familiar with a variety of materials and approaches to drawing by studying both historical and contemporary artwork. Although instruction will be rooted in drawing from observation, we will explore the potential to abstract from what we see and experiment with working from memory. Introduction to Drawing II Get creative while developing skills learned in an Introduction to Drawing course. We will advance our approaches to creating still-lifes, as well as working from the landscape and the figure, both from observation (if possible) and from memory. Students will explore concepts of space, light and form through previous knowledge of materials such as graphite, charcoal and ink. Throughout the course we will discuss the work of artists both historical and contemporary and share and discuss our own work as a group. This course is open to new students who have previously taken an Introduction to Drawing class. Pre-recorded technique demos will be available online for the duration of the quarter.
