MANTIS RHINO LIFELINE ENCOUNTER Embark on a bespoke, tailored trip to a reserve in Southern Africa, joining the renowned rhino expert and wildlife veterinarian, Dr. William Fowlds in his life-saving work on the endangered white rhino.
Included in your Rhino Encounter Depart from Port Elizabeth, South Africa Depart for Founders Lodge, adjacent to Shamwari Private Game Reserve (45 minute transfer from Port Elizabeth to Shamwari Private Game Reserve) DAY 1: Overnight Founders Lodge, this will be classified as your induction day – William will lead this with lectures and stories of his encounters with wildlife. The day will also be spent preparing for the day’s work ahead. DAY 2: Out in the field with William, the rhino encounter begins. A rhino will be identified and tracked, you will be a part of this activity. Once the animal is in a suitable position and if necessary a chopper will be radioed in and William will dart and immobilize the animal from the sky. You may be invited to join William in the helicopter for this exercise, but this will be at his discretion. Overnight at Founders Lodge. THE WHITE DESSERT (6-14th Dec 2016*)
This is a unique opportunity for you and 11 friends to travel to the 7th continent. Your journey will begin in Cape Town where you’ll be inducted into the world of Antarctica. ANTARCTICA IN A DAY
This adventure is a total one-off and takes only a select few into the very heart of Antarctica. Flying in from Cape Town, you can experience the last great wilderness on earth in just a single day! Soaring over thousands of icebergs, we fly across the mighty Southern Ocean. During the five and a half hour flight, you will see the African night turn to day as we cross the polar circle and into 24hrs continuous sunshine. Our plane lands on a specially equipped ice runway and as you step outside, you will become part of an elite group of people who have ever stood on the continent of Antarctica – a place usually reserved for scientists and the odd polar explorer. Our guides will be there to meet you as we get into our modified 4x4s and drive to the Guesthouse on the edge of an immense sea of ice. With mild summer temperatures of -5C and with our high tech polar clothing, you will always be kept nice and warm. This really is an adventure that almost anyone can enjoy. Once at camp, you can choose from a number of different activities ranging in length and difficulty. There are gentle treks over to the 200ft cliffs on the edge of the oasis, offering amazing views out to the coast. We also visit the nearby ice grottos – natural tunnels winding through the glacier that are as surreal as they are beautiful. There is even a chance for a sauna at the Russian Science Base!
