EN V IS ION
OUR VISION IS DEFINED.
Dear Friends,
In 2014, we began a collaborative strategic planning process that called on the voices, ideas, and aspirations of all members of the Lebanon Valley College community. Faculty, staff, students, trustees, alumni, and parents contributed to the shape of the plan and the ideas contained in it. There are a number of assumptions built into the plan. The first is that our distinctive educational model is increasingly powerful as preparation for a successful life. A second assumption is that continuous and accelerating change will characterize the workplace of the future and higher education must respond. The third is that the traditional residential student profile must be supplemented by growth in our adult education and graduate programs. Our shared goal was always to create a written plan that could be implemented and whose success could be measured. We also needed a plan whose direction and priorities would be exciting, attract support, and express the critical elements we will need to implement in the next five years. I invite you to read these pages and discover more about our exciting vision. We should all be confident that our strategic plan will make Lebanon Valley College a visibly stronger institution, more attractive to all undergraduate and graduate students, and even more successful in the outcomes of its graduates.
In short, we expect to advance our mission and to derive a competitive advantage from the implementation of the plan. The plan is ambitious and calls for institutional initiatives, some of which are already in progress. Among them are: revision of the general education program, internationalization of the curriculum, inclusive excellence as a model for our learning community, revaluation of faculty roles and responsibilities, implementation of strategic marketing and enrollment, and execution of a comprehensive fundraising campaign. Without question, LVC enters a transformational period in our history at a time of enormous change in American higher education. Our values and vision will provide discipline and direction. But we must execute the plan exceptionally well if we are to benefit fully from its many possibilities. I know I can count on your support as we go forward! Warmly, Dr. Lewis E. Thayne | July 2015 President, Lebanon Valley College

A TRANSFORMATIVE EDUCATION.
The founders called it “thorough and practical.” A Lebanon Valley College education is capable of sustaining an individual lifetime of learning and innovation. Yet it is UNMISTAKABLY RELEVANT to the times in which we live. It is an education tested in the world, in real time; a liberal arts experience TESTED BY HISTORY, FOR ALL TIME.
At Lebanon Valley College, we believe LEARNING MUST OCCUR IN 360 DEGREES.
In our learning community, faculty, students, and staff together engage an educational experience that is directed to the whole person. In doing so, we shape the history of the College. THROUGH OUR GRADUATES, WE SHAPE THE FUTURE. PRESIDENT LEWIS E. THAYNE, JULY 2015
