A SEASON PREPARATION CHECKLIST

We know living in Manitoba means a vast difference in seasonal weather and temperatures that can affect our homes. It's important to prepare and complete regular maintenance in order to avoid problems in the upcoming seasons. Here's a fall checklist to protect your home and get ready for the colder months!

exterior maintenance

Clean gutters and downspouts to prevent clogging and water damage. Inspect the roof for any damage or loose shingles. Repair or replace as needed.

Trim tree branches near the house to prevent them from causing damage during winter storms.

Clean and store outdoor furniture and garden tools.

Drain and store garden hoses to prevent freezing and damage.

Check the exterior walls for any cracks, gaps, or holes. Seal with caulk or weatherstripping.

Inspect windows and doors for drafts. Replace or repair weatherstripping as needed.

Check and clean the chimney and fireplace. Schedule a professional chimney sweep if necessary.

HVAC system

Schedule a professional annual maintenance check for the heating system. Clean or replace the air filters in the heating system to ensure efficient airflow.

Seal any leaks in the ductwork to prevent heat loss.

Test the thermostat settings to ensure proper functioning.
