This course gives an introduction to the fascinating field of virtual reality and demonstrates how it can be applied to a number of different products and services. From a showroom for new car concepts to virtual walkthroughs of show home interiors before they are built, VR can be useful in a range of situations.

The course also builds on the interactive capabilities of VR showing how it can be used to induct new members of staff remotely, deliver health and safety training and hold business meetings in an engaging manner. Whether using VR to teach someone how to fix an item in their home or demonstrate new agricultural equipment, the benefits of VR are manifold, and this course is an excellent introduction to this everdeveloping area.

How To Use Your Computer

Increase your computer confidence with this practical one-day course. With step-by-step, easy-to-follow guidance and support that can be tailored to your needs, this course is designed for anyone looking to increase their technical confidence. Covering the fundamentals, this programme will see you become more familiar with how to perform tasks using your computer. Covering topics such as online banking, downloading and signing PDFs and using a smartphone, the course is aimed at anyone wanting to become more adept at using their computer.

Construction & Trade

Introducing to Welding Award Level 1

Price: £450 Start date: January 2024 Duration: 10 weeks Location: Harrogate College Study: Part-time

Develop a passion for welding with this hands-on course. You will study in an industry-standard workshop and gain a range of essential skills including knowledge of equipment, MIG welding, techniques and procedures, and health and safety regulations.

Progression

Progression may include studying a welding course at a higher level.

Domestic Energy Assessor C&G Level 3 Certificate

Price: £995 Start date: January 2024 Duration: 1 year Location: Harrogate College Study: Part-time

If you have an interest in buildings and construction, a drive to improve energy efficiency for consumers and want to reduce carbon footprints, then this course could be for you. This City & Guilds Level 3 qualification covers how to assess building structure, discriminate between low and high energy lighting, introduce you to renewable technologies and their impact, and so much more.

Entry requirements

Although no previous experience or specific qualifications are required to undertake this course, an understanding of building and construction, maths skills, logical thinking, attention to detail and excellent communication skills are all desirable.

Progression

There is high demand for assessors and this qualification will set you up for further study or employment in this rapidly growing industry. A qualified Domestic Energy Assessor can progress to further study to qualify as a Retrofit Coordinator – who can deliver all elements of PAS 2035 (Retrofitting dwellings for improved energy efficiency).
