Wall & Floor Tiling for Beginners

This course is for students who want to gain an introduction to the tiling industry with a view to taking their education further. You will learn fundamental tiling skills, including how to prep and prime tiling areas. You will also learn how to cut and lay tiles on flat surfaces, angled ceilings, and difficult areas. Additionally, you will learn safety tips and how to use different tools and equipment confidently.

Entry requirements

No previous experience or qualifications required.

Progression

Upon completion students can undertake further study, including full-time construction courses, or a relevant apprenticeship.

Painting & Decorating for Beginners

Price: £400 Start date: January 2024 Duration: 8 weeks Location: Harrogate College; work experience Study: Part-time

This is an eight-week, non-accredited programme that will teach you essential painting and decorating skills for home and the working world. It offers an insightful introduction to various areas of the trade, enabling you to learn skills, tips and techniques from a specialist tutor, such as wall preparation for painting and papering. This course links well with our Essential DIY for Homeowners programme.

Progression

Progression may include other painting and decorating courses, or the Essential DIY for Homeowners programme.

ESOL & IELTS

An Introduction to ESOL (English Speakers of Other Languages)

Price: £400 Start date: September 2023 Duration: 30 weeks Location: Online Study: Full or part-time

If English is your second language, this course will improve your reading, writing, speaking and listening skills for school, work and everyday life. Improve your confidence and ability for education, job interviews, or general activities such as visiting the doctor. You will study with people of all backgrounds and receive help and support from friendly tutors.

Progression

Progression may include studying an ESOL course at a higher level. You can also progress to any vocational course or apprenticeship of your choice.

International English Language Testing System (IELTS)

Price: £390 Start date: January 2024 Duration: 10 weeks Location: Harrogate College Study: Part-time

Whether it’s for international study, migration or work, this accredited course will prepare you for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) examination. You will strengthen your ability to listen, read, write and speak in English to a standard that enables you to demonstrate a high level of capability. You will also learn more about the test format, have access to a wide range of preparation tools and receive tips on how to improve your performance on the day. An internationally recognised qualification, this course will enable you to study at degree level.
