Instalment plan If you choose not to take out an approved Advanced Learner Loan, or the qualification is not eligible for other public funding, you may be able to pay using an instalment plan. The minimum course fee eligible for instalments is £100. You will pay 25% of your course fees at enrolment and the remainder will be spread between one and six months, depending on your requirements and the length of your chosen course. All fees must be paid in full, one month before the end of the course. This course aims to develop your confidence with basic sugar craft techniques. Learn new skills to impress your friends and family. You will discover how to cover a cake to a professional standard, decorate cupcakes, use buttercream and fondant icing, pipe using royal icing and master the basics of modelling. Please note, there are no final entry requirements for this course. There are also no formal assessments. On completion of this course, you can progress to an accredited cake-decorating course, such as Introduction to Cake Decorating Beginners’ Course Level 1.

This creative course is for anyone who has completed the Introduction to Cake Decoration Level 1, or has basic practical skills. If you are interested in learning how to play an electric, acoustic or bass guitar, this course is the perfect place to start. You will learn a set of chords and some simple melodies in addition to scales and exercises to improve your technique. You will use guitar tabs to read the music with handouts provided. Please note, you will need to bring your own acoustic guitar to join in with this session. This course runs on Tuesday evenings 7.45-8.45pm at Rothwell Centre. Progression may include an accredited music course or other leisure courses.

This non-accredited course will develop your acrylic painting skills. Basic materials included on the course are paper, grey board, brushes, palettes and acrylic paints. As the course progresses, you may wish to bring your own canvases and specialist brushes. You will work from observation as well as from your own research. You will also gain experience in mixing colours and using brushes to your advantage. Additionally, you’ll explore tonal and colour values, and will apply compositional rules. You’ll create work to set themes. Progression may include other painting or drawing courses.

If you wish to develop live performance techniques, this non-accredited course is for you. You’ll look at different styles of theatre and acting while exploring unfamiliar genres. This fun course will teach you contemporary acting techniques. You will also improve your public speaking skills as you adjust to engaging with large audiences. You will learn how to create a believable character and how to develop your screen presence. Additionally, you will learn about performing with truth and develop techniques suitable for a range of acting styles. Progression may involve public speaking opportunities as you will have developed your skills.

This non-accredited introduction to the Adobe Suite will introduce you to some of the key aspects of working with Photoshop, Illustrator and Premiere Pro. It is for those aiming to take the first steps into the creative industry designing graphics, editing videos, and manipulating photographs. You will learn how to use Photoshop for graphic design, Illustrator to design graphics, and Premiere Pro for editing video. You will gain introductory knowledge of the software applications allowing you to make logos, edit and export videos for social media, and process imagery. Progression may include photography, drawing or illustration short courses.
