COURSES TO SUIT EVERYONE Our mission is creating learning environments where every student can achieve their full potential, so you’ll be welcomed on to one of our exciting education programmes. Full-time We believe in lifelong learning and our courses aren’t just for those wanting to study part-time. Most of our full-time provision welcomes adult learners. Typically, a full-time course runs over 2.5 to 3 days per week unless it’s fast-track, meaning you can still work part-time or carry out caring responsibilities. We have an extensive selection of full-time courses that are tailored to suit your needs as a mature student. Just some of our course areas include: childcare and education, creative arts, computing, engineering and automotive technologies, health and social care, science, sport, travel, food and drink, and more... Apprenticeships, GCSEs, A levels, and Access to Higher Education Did you know that you can still do an apprenticeship, gain A levels, or study for your GCSEs as an adult student? It’s never too late to learn, and we’re here to support you with your education journey. Apprenticeships are a great way to train and reskill for a career change, or to develop your existing skills for your current role. They’re offered from entry to degree level, so there’s multiple options to suit your ability and individual needs. Better yet, our apprenticeships can feed into wider career pathways, helping you get to where you want to be. Are you attracted to academia? GCSEs are a fantastic springboard to get you into work or further study. Meanwhile, A levels advance your knowledge and open up opportunities. For adults aiming to progress to higher education, we run a range of access pathways, to prepare you for higher level study in a range of disciplines, many linked directly to areas where there are skill shortages and therefore work opportunities.

ESOL Is English not your native language? Would you like to improve your skills? Leeds City College is one of the largest providers of English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses in the UK. Our department has outstanding achievement which was the highest in the country in 2017/18. Ideal for anyone over 16, we have part-time and full-time courses to suit your needs. From complete beginners to level 2 students, you will have the chance to enhance your English. You’ll also have the opportunity to improve your maths and IT skills. Former ESOL students have moved into vocational courses, higher education, and employment.

Higher Education Your journey doesn’t have to end after further education, you can progress to a higher level at the University Centre Leeds. We pride ourselves on our extensive support and smaller class sizes that are designed to give you the individual learning support that will allow you to excel. We have a range of foundation degree programmes that are part of wider career paths. Study your foundation degree with us then top it up to a full honours degree, or move into relevant employment after taking advantage of our industry links. We offer an array of courses including photography, tourism and aviation, health and wellbeing, and more. If you already have a foundation degree, why not top up to a full honours degree with us? After graduating, many of our students have progressed into relevant employment.

DEACON HOUSE Courses at Deacon House aim to take your skills to the next level and are designed for the local community. OUR CAMPUSES Park Lane Campus Less than 15 minutes from the train station, Park Lane Campus is on the edge of Leeds’ illustrious city centre. It features a seven storey, 60 room, energy-efficient annexe as well as solar panels and sedum plants. The expert staff and modern facilities at Park Lane provide students with everything they need to succeed. Park Lane’s innovative science laboratories, on-site gyms, and rooftop beehive are just some of the resources the campus has to offer. Printworks Campus Located in the South Bank area of Leeds, Printworks Campus is a stone’s throw away from Leeds Dock and the beautiful banks of the River Aire. It’s also the home to Kitchen & Bar and Salon & Spa. Printworks Campus consists of a stunning listed building that underwent a multi-million pound renovation to offer students state-of-the-art facilities. University Centre Leeds Located just a short walk away from the city centre, University Centre Leeds is adjacent to Park Lane Campus. Offering both full-time and part-time degree courses, students can complete foundation and top-up degree programmes and higher level apprenticeships. It provides an encouraging learning environment and offers excellent support. Quarry Hill Campus Based in the Cultural Quarter of Leeds, Quarry Hill is our new £60m campus. A blend of green scenery and modern architecture, the building features tree etchings designed by our Creative Arts team, and nostalgic photographs of former residents. Quarry Hill Campus boasts specialist childcare training resources, digital technology labs, and industry standard studios and theatres. With cutting-edge facilities, and schools priding themselves on industry links, Quarry Hill is unrivalled in the region. The Annexe Less than 2 minutes’ walk from Quarry Hill Campus, The Annexe is an adult-focused facility. It is home to many Access to HE programmes. This newly refurbished building features exciting facilities including an independent learning zone, large common room, digital suites, a photography studio, and more.

COURSE FEES Adult education course fees can be found alongside each course in the guide. Long course fees and fees over ÂŁ100 may be paid by an instalment plan. Please contact us for more information. Funding You may qualify for funding to help you pay for your course. Fees may be waived due to personal circumstances and/ or if you receive certain benefits. Please note that you will need to provide evidence to prove your benefit payments. Employed learners on level 2 courses and below, earning less than ÂŁ16,009.50 annual gross salary may also be exempt from some fees. Please note you will need evidence of your earnings, this may include a contract of employment or a wage slip that is less than three months old. Adults and young people are entitled to free English and maths GCSE tuition if they do not already have a grade 4 (or C) in that subject. Adults under 24 studying for their first full level 2 qualification may be eligible for free tuition subject to status and dependent on the course. Community Learning (CL) Course Fees For some courses funded through Leeds City Council, concessionary rates are available if you are in receipt of certain benefits. Please see our website for more details, as financial support may be available.

Level 3 and above courses for 19+ learners If you are 19-23 and plan to study a course at level 3 including A levels, Access to HE diplomas, and professional qualifications, you may be eligible for free tuition. This is dependent on the qualifications you have previously achieved and the qualification you study. Please contact us for further information. If you are 19-23 and have already achieved a full level 3 qualification, are 24 or over, or you want to study at level 4 or above, then full fees are payable regardless of personal circumstances. To help cover the costs of part or all of the fees, the government have introduced Advanced Learner Loans. These are government loan options that help bridge the gap by providing financial support while you study. You can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan if you are: • Aged 19 or over • A resident in the UK • Accepted on to an eligible course at level 3 The minimum you can borrow is £300 and the maximum depends on the fees for your course. Once your offer has been confirmed and you’ve received the learning and funding information letter from college, you can register and apply for the loan online. You need to have an approved Advanced Learner Loan in place before you enrol. If you don’t, you will need to discuss your options with us at enrolment. You do not need to pay your loan back until: • You have finished your course • You earn more than £25,000 per annum

If you get a loan to cover tuition fees for an Access to HE course, then go on to successfully complete a HE course, your loan will be written off. Bursaries may be available, contact us for more details. Instalment Plan If you choose not to take out an approved Advanced Learner Loan, or the qualification is not eligible for other public funding, or is over £100, you may be able to pay using an instalment plan. You will pay 25% of your course fees at enrolment and the remainder will be spread between one and six months, depending on your requirements and the length of your chosen course. All fees must be paid in full, one month before the end of the course. The minimum course fee eligible for instalments is £100. Full details of the college’s fees policy is available on the college website. Student Financial Support Don’t let money worries hold you back. We can help you overcome financial barriers to help you succeed in your chosen course. There are various financial support funds available to assist students with a range of course-related costs such as travel passes, specific equipment, protective clothing, books, educational visits, and college meals. Other costs such as childcare and transport could be supported through a bursary scheme.
