History
This course introduces you to some of the most important subjects and problems in British and European economic, political and social history over the last 200 years. It’s a great way to understand how the world we live in has evolved and provides fantastic opportunities for you to build your own arguments around the interpretations of our past.
A level History is made up of three components: the first is a breadth study, looking at the Tudors and the changes that took place over that period. Component two involves an in-depth study of post-1945 America; whilst the final component is a coursework module, where students will study Russia between 1855 and 1964.
You will develop your ability to analyse sources, develop arguments, research and construct essays, problem-solve and think critically.
Progression routes The critical analysis skills that you will develop enable progression on to careers such as law, journalism, marketing and business, management and teaching. Alternatively, you could pursue specialist occupations such as archaeology, historical research and museum curation.
