Leeds City College Virtual Star Awards 2021

14 July 2021, 7pm

Foreword Welcome to Leeds City College’s annual Star Awards. The awards are an opportunity for us to celebrate and showcase our students’ outstanding work and their fantastic achievements throughout their time at college. Every year we are proud to see our students pursuing and achieving their academic goals. Despite the challenges of this past year we have seen some remarkable progress and wonderful highlights, including students and staff who gave up their time to volunteer and support their community at the height of the pandemic. It is a testament to you all that college life has continued and you have navigated through it with such positivity. Our students are central to all we do and our mission, vision and objectives are all focused on driving aspiration, achievement and social mobility. Through our diverse academic and extracurricular programmes we continually strive to create an environment where students are able to achieve, not only the best results, but a place where they can excel outside of their academic studies as they prepare for the next stage of their lives - be it university, an apprenticeship or employment.

Leeds City College, part of Luminate Education Group, is one of the fastest growing FE institutions and I am proud to be part of its growing vision. As we continue to expand our reach within the region, I am reminded of the enthusiasm, commitment and innovative ideas that our staff and students showcase. Congratulations to the students who were nominated and made the shortlist. What you have achieved over the last year is exceptional. Your hard work has paid off and today is a celebration of how far you’ve come and the journey you still have ahead of you. On behalf of all the staff and governors of the college, I wish you all the best for the future. Enjoy this evening.
